Don't bother with Paolini. Just sayin'. Then again, you might enjoy its similarity to SW.

Hey, have you checked out the bookfails comm? You'd love it!

See, I've heard mixed things about Paolini. I have heard it's like SW, but wasn't it one of his inspirations? I have to give him credit for being so young and published, even if he did have help from his parents.

No, I haven't heard of it. I'll have to look for it.

And I'm going right out and buying some Tamora Pierce stuff with that gift card. I need the second book in the Trickster set since the library sale only had the first and I'm dying to see what happens. If you haven't read any of her stuff, you should.

And I seriously need a new layout. This was my Secret Santa last year so I think it's time for a change in banner.

Well, if by inspiration you mean template where he only changed the names and places... Honestly, I think he only got published BECAUSE of his parents. Some people like his books, yes, but I think they're teens who haven't read any real fantasy.

A friend of mine is a raving Pierce fan. She says the Protectors of the Small and the Immortals were the best series. I started the Circle Opens, but it was rather predictable and dull for my tastes. My friend agreed that the Circle series isn't the best. I need to read those series, I guess. The local library of course doesn't have the first books in them... Gah, the Hernando library system is so lame.

lol Do something with Sanctuary for you banner! Hey, I just finished the Bank Job ep. That was pretty nifty. Great twist at the end, I gotta say.

I've kind of lost my interest in Paolini anyway. I'll probably pass on it. There are other books I'd rather read.

The Immortals is really good. I found it at the Salvation Army as a single binding. I have to agree that the Circle ones are a little predictable, of course I didn't realize through the whole eight books that Rosethorn and Lark were lesbians. I went WTF on that one. Immortals is really godd, as was the first Trickster book. The Lioness, Immortals, Protector of the Small, and Trickster books are all in the same universe too.

I need to watch Trail of Blood, Breach, and Vigilante. And I think a Sanctuary Banner is a great idea. I also need to find some Sanctuary icons.

Good choice! I've been reading Stephen Lawhead, who writes historical fiction with fantasy elements thrown in. He does good work.

Ok, now that two people are vouching for those series, I really need to check them out! I didn't get far enough into the books to get into Lark and Rosethorn's relationship much. Seems like one of those token things some writers throw in to be "edgy" or whatever. You know, like Dumbledore being gay even though he didn't really evidence it through the first 5-6 books and it wasn't integral to the plot...

Trail of Blood is excellent! Lots of Henry/Nikola interaction, which is hilarious to watch. Did you see Friday's ep? It was also very good. Seems the magical, mystical city isn't so serene after all.

I'll have to look him up.

The books never really went into their relationship. I had to be told by Sandry that they were. I can't vouch for the Lioness books yet, even though the happen before the Imortals I read Imortals becuase I had it. But they are excellent.

Trail of Blood was great. Loved his explanation for how he contacted them only for Henry to find out the truth. And I did. Yikes for them. I have a feeling those people that helped Helen and Will are more or less slaves. And I knew John should have taken Tesla with him.

The King Raven trilogy is good, as is the Song of Albion trilogy. King Raven is more historical, whereas Albion is more fantasy. And if you like Arthurian lore, he has a Pendragon series too.

IKR. He had that whole "topographical amplification" blah blah blah explanation, and Henry's just about drooling. I love everybody in Sanctuary (and it's rare for me to like all the cast in a show), but Tesla's gotta be my fave!

I spent most of the last ep yelling that they should take Tesla. Maybe they'll use the detail about there being lodestone around the city...? Of course, they still have to get out of being executed first.

Oh, I was on Jonathon Young's IMDB page and watched an ep of Jeremiah that he was in (Out of the Ashes). He was a librarian and the main dudes had to help him protect his library. Was a good ep.

Ooo, Arhturian is always good.

I love Tesla! He's my fave too! I belong to the Telsa thunk thread in the Sanctuary section of Gateworld. I so need a Tesla icon. And I love Henry too. Their interactions are the best.

I did too! They could have used his power. And I knew Adam wasn't going to last once they got there. And they obviously aren't dead.

I've seen one or two eps of Jeremiah, but I have to see this one.

Sweet! High five, Tesla-loving buddy! He seriously has the best plots, best lines, best everything on the show. I just spent a few hours last night stocking up on Tesla icons at the Sanctuary comm here. Wish I had more icon slots! I love Henry, too. He's such an interesting character.

I suppose I should join Gateworld, huh.

Agreed. It'll still be interesting to see how everything pans out, though. Tesla's gotta find his way there somehow...

I don't like Jeremiah much since it's too post apocalyptic, ie depressing, for my tastes. But that ep was definitely worth the watch!

*high fives*

They have a forum for the show and others Syfy airs. And he does. I loved his "The big guy can answer the phones" and the House reference, and the HP and SW ones in the same ep, he's so snarky and I'm a sucker for the snark. And even though I don't ship him and Helen, I love their interactions. I need more icons too, I only get the 15. You have to link me to the comm.

The only post apocalyptic show I liked was Jericho.

Nice. I need to join.

And the "since when am I the responsible adult" line. The House Elf exchange has got to be one of my fave moments of the show. I think his use of modern vernacular and references are part of his charm. I mean, "Attention, Kmart shoppers"? Rock on. His lines really are genuinely witty. And I love that you can never completely trust what he says.

Tesla is hard to 'ship with anyone, IMO. When I 'ship, I think of people who would have a good relationship, not just look good together. Tesla isn't really the type to have a deep relationship with anyone except himself. His attraction to Helen seems largely due to the fact that he can't have her. That, and she's brilliant. So I content myself with enjoying them interacting.

I agree on both points. And the real Tesla was celabite anyway.

If you join, let me know. I go by the same thing there. New people have a probationary period now due to a giant spam thing that went on a couple of years ago by people who registered and then spammed he whole forum with inappropriate images.
