Private.
I had a lovely letter from Toyah last week, and a few days later another from Aunt Vaishali and Pari. It's clear that they're worried about Val and I, and that my aunt is a little worried about Toyah. Pari sent a huge box of sweets which are apparently "all mine" as she's posted a similar ton of confection to Parvati. Toyah's letter, however...she misses Valerius and believes that we are keeping things from her, which, of course, we are. I know better than to lie, but I think my reply was on the cautious side. She'll know that, of course. There's no deceiving an intelligent child.
Val...is getting better, slowly. The curse was horrendous, and the side-effects from the pain-killing potions were alarming, but I think now...he is recovering. And words just can't express how relieved I am to see this happen. From the moment we first became friends, Valerius has had obstacle after obstacle to surmount, and all because the two individuals who gave him life seemed hell-bent on destroying him.
Now he is free.
I've been neglecting the journals lately... too much has been happening, in a quiet sort of a way. Having the inkdarting sessions again has been a great help; Poppy told me to get exercise in order to build up the muscle that wasted through being immobile, and although I have had to have many long soaks in many hot baths - the sort you have to keep heating up, partly because your aching limbs demand it and partly because it's so delicious - the movement has been of great benefit.
It's also made me think a bit more about how the game can be used to practice for battle. The incident at St Mungo's we were unprepared for, and although we coped, and were without fatalities on our side, it wasn't organised. Clearly, the Order is marking out battle strategies. Would playing them out as part of an inkdarting game be useful? Time to find out.
Locked to Ron Weasley. Ron, could we incorporate the portable floo into next Sunday's match, if it's ready?
Locked to the Order. I was wondering, since inkdarting involves both flying and non-flying "combat", if it would be of use to the Order for planning manoeuvres? Perhaps we could have a few sessions at Thorne, if Bill is agreeable?
And Charlie, I just wanted to say...I was lost for words. She's beautiful, and very clever. You must be very proud.
