So I didn't get a chance to update last night, 'cause I came home and talked on the phone for a while before sleeping... But guess what? Yes, that's right, I have adventures to tell you all about!! Aren't you excited? ;)
I'm going to break this up into at least two parts, as I have so much to tell you all about! Oh, and yes, I'm a dork, so sue me :-P
Okay, so after I got out of work, I headed to the Riverside T station (for those of you not familiar with Mass, the T is the subway line), so I could go into Brookline to meet up with the lovely
richips and company :) I miss the train, so have to wait almost 20 minutes for the next one (which is a long time), and I see T technicians hanging around the area... I figure maybe there was a disabled train up the way or something... So the train finally comes (on the opposite side of the tracks - also a bit odd) and we get on for free ("oooh! a plus!", I thought) and start moving...
Between the second and third stops... we stop... the lights go out, then five seconds later, come back on again... Weird... We still don't move... they go out again... come back on... I'm a little worried at this point... Two technicians are walking around on the train...
Almost ten minutes later, we get to the next stop... They announce that it's now an express train to Reservoir ("oh good, we'll make up for lost time!")
Well, between the fourth and fifth stops, I start smelling burnt rubber and smoke... The heating vent by my leg starts to warm up intensely... I hear people murmuring about the back of the train and I look, and there's a smoky haze over that part of the car...
We stop at Chestnut Hill (the stop before the one they said we would stop at) and tell us all, in a frantic yet calm voice, that this was the last stop, and we should all exit the train... We get out, and there is smoke pouring from the back of the car... My brother-in-law said it sounded like they blew a motor or something like that, but regardless, I was never so happy to get off of a train!
So after choking on thick gray smoke, we all get on the next train and have an uneventful ride to Brookline... Where more adventures await me... :)

And now I must run to the grocery store... But I will share the rest of my story when I come back... Muahahaha!
