Could not sleep last night. Did it have anything to do with sleeping til the afternoon? Possibly. The weekend was all about nap time. Only managed to get three hours before work. Intended to come afterwards and work on some homework, but ended up passing out instead, and I missed school. Oopsies. Just as well, because I hadn't finished the assignment anyway. Three of the chicks in my class stopped by after they got out of class and told me I missed a fairly important class; we were given our culminating task. Apparently I have to write a song, write some kind of review for it, and make up a cd package for an album. Could the teach have picked a more apt subject for me to do? Ahhh, rhetorical questions, my oldest friends. I'll have to get all the details as I was still in my pj's and the chicks couldn't stay long. As much as they wreck my head sometimes, it was nice of them to stop by and give me the heads up, as this thing is due Thursday.
I bought EC's new cd/dvd today. Man! does he still kick ass. Only got to listen to the first three songs then passed out. Man was I exhausted. Woke up later and gave the whole album the proper straight-through treatment though, and am most pleased with the results. Eric, you kick ass. Play on, brother.
Speaking of music, today at work I got into it with Christine about covers bands and my views on the subject. Why would I pay $80 to go see a band that has dedicated their 'professional' career to trying to copy something which is supremely inimitable? I can see why she thinks those bands are valid, but I would NEVER specifically go and see a cover band, when I can strap on the ear goggles and listen to the originals in all their glory in the privacy of my room, without being hassled by burnt out hippies and their cougar wives, clinging to the last vestiges of their bygone youth. Not really my scene, 'man.' It's funny though, because Christine hardly see eye to eye on ANYTHING artistic. To each their own, I guess. I freely admit though, that when it comes to music, I am EXTREMELY hard to please as far as authenticity goes. She was right when she said it was very black and white for me. I'm not too worried about me though; I'm comfortable with my tastes and will remain so for the rest of my days. The rest of the world can go eat a peach.
