True Blood: to watch or not to watch?
The thing is...I love the Sookie Stackhouse series. I've read all the books and I'm definitively fangirling them, especially since - contrary to what usually happens with long series - they get better and better as the story evolves.
Also, I not only like the books, but I read them with a mindset that can either make the whole experience so much better or so much worse, depending on where the author is going: I ship.
Yes, shipping characters (especially if they are sort-of-canon-but-not-really) can increase the level of your involvement (read: obsession) with a book (or a tv show) a lot, but you can also be badly "burned", if things don't go the way you wish they'd go...
Anyway (I do have a point), in the book series I heavily ship Sookie with a character that, by the latest books is basically almost her canon love interest (sort of, hopefully) but, at the very beginning of the series, he was definitely not Sookie's main "squeeze".
[if you read the books, I think you know who I'm talking about, especially considering that my favorite book in the series is "Dead to the World" *g*]
Since the TV series is based on the first book, I'm pretty sure that Sookie will be "paired up" with Bill (and I don't think I'm spoiling anyone naming that name) and since I'm afraid that - as always happens with tv series based on books - most of the episodes and storylines will be pretty much independent from the books, I'm not sure I want to get involved in a series that is not going to pair up my favorite ship.
I'm probably way too anal about the whole thing, but I can't hep it. *is a freak*
Sooo, have you seen the first few episodes? What do you think about them? Have you read the books? Is the show worth watching anyway?
