Declan gave his phone number to this kid in his class for some reason. Last night the kid called around 5pm. Declan talked to him a bit and then said, "Well, buddy, I'm going to play Lego Star Wars with my dad now, so I'll talk to you later. Bye."
10 minutes later the kid called again. Then again and again. When Rick told him not to keep calling and that Declan would call him tomorrow, the kid called another kid and gave him Declan's (our) number. Kid two called about 2 times and then Rick asked to speak to his parents. His grandma got on the line and agreed that calling that much wasn't good.
This morning at 8:22 the first kid called again. Rick answered and asked to talk to his parents. He said his dad was in jail and his mom was at work. The second kid just called again.
My question/concern here is who do I tell about the first kid who is home alone--or at least very unsupervised--and lonely?
And this just goes to prove that the gene to attract the odd and needy runs strong. *sigh*
