Most of the services just snip the first 200 characters and add a ... LJ seems a....um, little behind the times.
My apologies for snogging your inbox up. You can always just browse me when you have some time and not get posts via email or RSS feed (which I'm assuming your doing if my posts are too hefty!) I'll be sad to see you go, but I would completely understand.
Another happy thing I've found is the creation of my iGoogle.com homepage. Which lists for me the first 3-9 most recent entries from my RSS tagged feeds.
Up to six individual tabs for category groupings and unlimited feeds tagged to the page. It has given me the ability to peruse a phenomenal amount of news/blogs and...other stuff in the first 30 minutes of every day. I see a snippet or headline and I can click if I'm interested, or leave it for another day.

iGoogle is cool stuff, although I prefer using LJ as my feed aggregator.
