This is a sad day for alot of rock and metal fans out there. Ronny James Dio died at the age of 67 (was he that old, really?) after some time of fighting his cancer. Dio had, besides a pretty successful solo career, recorded a few albums as lead singer for Black Sabbath in the early 80s. He was also the lead singer in the band Rainbow.
I discovered this singer in 2001 (gee, why am I always so late in discovering great music?!), when he was touring together with Ratt and Alice Cooper and they had a concert here in Falun. Wow! I had heard a few songs with Dio before, but this was when I realized what good music he really played. I ran home and ordered 3 CDs straight away.
No, I am not a HUGE fan of his, but his music was very good and has inspired other bands throughout the history of rock and metal. Now, let his music live on and let us hope his spirit is now shining "like a rainbow in the dark".
