You can't take the sky from me

ireth_e and paceyringwald! *hugs*
Let me know if there's anything I can make for you. Promise to do my best to actually finish it too. ;D

Obviously, I'm back - safe and sound. ;)
I'll have pics later. Here's only a first impression of where I was.

Friday
Arrived at the Wasserkuppe, the highest mountain there, met up with the people who would be taking the course with me, got a little drunk, one guy accidently set his hair on fire and I ended up in bed way too late. The whole thing had a definitive school trip feeling to it, as we were staying in a youth hostel. Bunk beds!
Actually, it sounds like the premise of a horror movie.

Saturday
Started with me getting locked out of my room while still in my pjs. Ended up plodding around the area to find the guys with the key. Awesome.
The course started at a reasonable 9am. They explained the starting process, what to do when you're up in the air.
And then apparently the wind was ideal and they took us outside.
Why would we need to know how to land anyway, right?
Actually, it really wasn't a problem. Our flights were guided, they helped us to start, they told us what to do while flying and when and where to land. And how. No one was injured.
And I'm telling you, it is an awesome feeling. Watching people to get up there made me nervous, but once I was flying myself it wasn't nearly as bad. I really felt secure and... it's just wow.
That's the one side to it. The other side is having to get back up that darn hillside again with all your equipment. And I think we spent half the time with untangling the lines.
Still, I'd probably pursue it if I'd have the money.
Next day we were supposed to start at 6am, so I decided to be in bed early enough. Instead I ended up driving some of the others down the mountain to watch the football match, because I was the only sober one. Ah well, sleep is overrated. *g*

Sunday
Very, very, very reluctantly got up at 5:30am. Didn't get locked out this time.
Sadly, the wind wasn't playing along this time, so basically we got up at an ungodly hour to lie on the grass. In a breathtaking landscape, so there's that. Finished the course before noon, spent a few hours with the others and then drove back home.

Honestly, I'd recommend to try this out and if it's just for a few short flights for fun. :D

blahblah, birthdays
