You know the song birthday by the beatles? I always wondered whose birthday it was when they recorded that. I am pretty dang old though, I'm not a teenager any more. by my age, Alenander the great was leading an army to Persia after conquering Greece.

I have been listening to this song by Bright Eyes called The Calendar Hung Itself and it is the best/most bitter love song ever.

Ok, yesterday. So for my b-day, I got to swim in the Med for the first time in my life and it ws so beautiful that I wet myself (though that might have been the sea that did that) We were about half a mile from this giant rock sticking out of the sea called Monovasia. where we spent the morning climbing to the top to look at this unconquerable city that had withstood invasion from the persians, Alex the Great, the Romans, the Franks, the turks. I mean you just can't get in unless they invite you. (Mono-"one" vasia-"entrence"). Then we went back to Sparta and a basically every one took me out. I didn't get too drunk but I did try to shotgun a beer and manage to pour half of it down myself. We were hanging out at this cafe whose owner was talking to us in detail about how he cheats the government out of taxes and such also he was very proud of being a womanizer which he admited within 5 minutes of talking. A strange fellow indeed. Then everyone went to bed but I wanted a celabratory shot so Stephen (a guy on the trip) and I went to the bar next door and got some ouzo and the bar tender gave us a free shot randomly though neither of us had any idea what it was and think that it may have been drugs.

What a night though, truly a memorable b-day.

I'm beginning to get a little tired of so many cathedrals but we did see one fresco of a white haired jesus which Dr. Econamu (the expert on Greek Outhodox, he knows everything you want to know and even some of the stuff you don't) has never seen or heard of before in his entire life, so that was kind of special.

I'm back in Athens again and we have a very full week before heading to Istanbul (was Constantinople) we are going to an opera/ballet in the amphitheater on the Accropolis. I'm sure even though I don't like opera or ballet, I will enjoy myself.
