Officially Moved In

I'm officially moved into Richmond.

Over the weekend we drove up to Reston to finish packing things up and loaded up my condo into a 16-foot Budget Truck. We filled it almost to the gills with the help of lostdog, amata23, Eugene, and my wife (who is included in the 'we' but would complain if she wasn't specifically listed). We decided to bypass the 3 sets of stairs to get to the front and instead walked the really heavy stuff around the building and up the hill on foot rather then stairs. All in all, it was pretty exhausting. Exhausting enough that we actually ended up stalling out on the way down to take a lengthy nap in a hotel.

Sunday morning we started unloading at the house about 8:30am. As we were getting to the heavy stuff our help arrived just in the nick of time baronmind was the first, and then a handful of family showed up to help (my sister-in-law, sister-in-law's-fiance, mother-in-law, and my dad). Loaded the last thing into the house at 11:30am :)

Thank you for all the help!

Also, got scammed by the guy I dropped the rental truck off with for a $1. He decided to drive the truck to his gas pump and proceed to top-off the tank. By topping it off I mean pumping the handle for 15 seconds or so, which was basically just recycling gas. At the checkout he said that he'd refund the total $150 deductable if I gave him the $1 for gas, or he could just take it off of the deductable and give me $149 back. I looked him in the eyes, and told him that I was going to complain against his Budget contract but that I would pay the $1 to avoid the argument. He proceeded to spend the next 5 minutes of the checkout process trying to justify the charge. And I told him two more times, calmly and looking him dead in the eyes, that I disagreed with his practice and that I was going to complain against his contract. He took the $1 gave me the $150 deposit back and I'm assuming is thinking that I'm not going to bother complaining aginst his contract. But I'm so going to report him to both Budget and the BBB, because that $1 of gas wasn't run up through the register, wasn't on the Budget receipt anywhere. When I asked him for a receipt for the purchase he walked over to the manual credit card thing and typed in $1.00 and handed me the receipt. So the only record of that transaction is my witness, himself, and the manual credit card slip (he didn't even keep a copy of the manual credit slip). Sure it's only a buck, but it's the principal of it.
