How long it has been...
Fort Hayes is great. Micah and I have met some cool kids. Chris Caputo, Joe Wengard, Mara, Benton, among others. We're recording the vocals with the latter two tomorrow for our original Christmas song, of which the chord progression in the first and third movements is mine. (Hooray for songwriting!) I completed my first original song last week, actually. It's pretty classical, but it's cool.
We wrote a song earlier in the year called "Carnival Attraction". Performing it was the greatest. Oh! How I loved it. Waltz to blues to fucked-up carnival death noise. Mmmmmm.
Micah and Kyle and I saw the Decemberists in... September? (Yeah, I think.) It was the best concert I've seen yet. BUT!!! Tickets to Sigur Rós have been purchased. General admission at PromoWest, or The LC... I'm going to cry with delight. I've honestly never been so excited about anything ever.
I'm reading a dual biography of Tim and Jeff Buckley. So fascinating. They really are two of the best vocalists ever to live. I blew the rest of my Barnes & Noble money on CDs. Ah, well. The first bit of it was spent on the biography and "The Wilco Book".
Oh! The Sun! is sweet. Kyle, Hannah, Nate, Tony. It's a good thing.
Micah and I also saw the Mars Volta in August. Holy damn. We snuck onto the floor through a crack in the bleachers, got four rows or so from the front, and let me tell you... music is fucking great.
I missed out on a bunch of concerts 'cause Micah wasn't in town and I felt bad going to them without him, but oh well. The Fiery Furnaces and Andrew Bird. I try not to think about it.
Also, for some concerts, we were just broke.
I found "Greetings from Michigan..." on vinyl. It's nice. I could so easily drop $200 or more at Sour today.
I forget the other concerts that have been attended.. hmmph.
Ah, yes. Wolf Eyes and Fe-Mail. The most painful, bizarre, but wonderful experience. It was definitely worth the time.
Oh! The Sun! wrote a musical called "Candlebelly". In Tony's absence, Steve filled in, and Tony became a talking pumpkin. Anyways, Micah was part of the rabble, and I was the girl that got seduced (and then murdered) by Nate. Creepy. We might have a real performance (meaning not in their living room) coming up at 2Cos for an AIDS benefit in a couple of weeks.
My dad is helping Kyle make this box for his circuit-bending project, from one of Barbara's sweet, sweet Casio keyboards. The great black one. A neck for Kyle's banjo is the next project.
Too much else to talk about... I'll just quit now.
