I discovered this a couple of days ago -
The Brown Dress Project about a woman who wore the same brown dress every day for a year.
The project was started 3 years ago and so was over 2 years ago. Nevertheless I find it fascinating.
The same evening I watched Trinny and Susannah - the usual thing where they yell at shoppers for buying the wrong clothes. However, it was announced that "statistics show that while the nation spends £30 billion a year on clothes, 80% of garments purchased are never worn". Not surprising.
I went to a wedding last weekend, and the Friday before I panicked, didn't know what to wear so spent nearly all day looking for clothes and bought 3 potential outfits. I haven't been clothes shopping in ages and found it quite stressful. For a start all the clothes are geared up for younger people, and I hate these silly, little cap sleeves/puff sleeves that have suddenly started to appear on shirts/dresses. I like plain stuff. Simple.
In the end I wore a plainish dress that was on sale for £12.50!!!! (but it was too long, hence my grumpiness) and a shrug that I had knitted myself.
I still felt a little uncomfortable though *sigh*. My self esteem has hit a real low these last few months.
I must buck up!
