This is so them, from Joe drawing goatees on centerfolds to Billy spitting in his coffee. And I love the idea of Billy working at a truck stop! Hee. Great job, as always, Linden!
That's a fact :D I was really grossed out by Joe and Billy (and Pipe and John) spitting on each other in the movie when I first saw it.
And the reason I had Joe call his parents Mr. and Mrs. maybe got lost in the separation and shortening of what was originally going to be a longer story, where I was going to put more emphasis on Joe feeling alienated and distanced from parents that I imagined as being kind of timid and drab.

Okay, I get it. For a moment there, I was going "wait, he's not adopted, is he?"

These stories were written in a frenzy (because work's been crazy, lately) and I'm so happy to hear that I maybe got something right, anyhow :)

Joe makes sure to look Billy in the eye while he lifts the cup to his lips and takes a drink, anyway. He smiles through his teeth.
♥ I'm grossed out and thrilled in tandem.

Hmm, why is Joe calling his parents Mr and Mrs Mulgrew instead of mom and dad? I'm probably missing something...
