Today is my and Spike's 5 year anniversary. That's right, the fur ball and I have been joined for 5 years today. This is amazing to me. I am amazed that he lived this long. I am also amazed at how much we have been through together in the last 5 years and how much has changed. Lets take a look back (retro, flashback music)
Spike and I lived together at Nick's house. He was scared of everything.
Spike lived in Aurelia and Brian's garage and was angry at the world.
Spike moved to Minnesota with me and learned how to cross country ski, a sport he still enjoys.
Spike moved to Utah with me and enjoyed snow, but did not like the desert heat.
Spike took a road trip to rural Oregon to visit my cousin and enjoyed her giant yard. He participated in show and tell at her school. This dog who was afraid to have people pet him let 30 5th and 6th graders pet him
Spike went to Yellowstone national park and enjoyed peeing near the gysers.
Spike went to law school and enjoyed sleeping on my feet while I studied.
Spike formed an alliance with the fireman where all positive dog training is forgotten (seriously, fireman lets him up on the furniture and everything)
It is hard for me to believe my life has changed this much, that so much has happened in the last 5 years. I wonder what the next 5 years hold.
When I look back on my life, espically my life in DC, there are several things I think were bad for me. Many things that in hind sight, I should never have done. Many things that if I had the chance to do over, I would not have done.
Really, one of the very very few things about my life in DC that I like, that I would not undo, was my adoption of Spike. He is my constant companion.
Now, I must go pet the subject of this message and take him for a walk.
