Welcome to what used to be pretty much a commentary on life as I saw it.
But ... nearly 100% of my viewers indicated, very politely, that they didn't want to hear my commentary but rather my experiencesSo that's the direction I now attempt to take: interact with life more, and dole out opinions less

"Bow down" is not the phrase I would have in mind.
"Respect for the office" is.
Honestly evaluating a policy and disagreeing with that policy can be done without ad hominen attacks on the man in office. In all discussions political these days, it is presumed that President Bush is himself the axis of evil. As it was previously with President Clinton. I disagree with those premises.
I'm in the process of reading the famed trilogy on World War II by Cornelius Ryan.
Hitler was nothing less than demonic. Even his own generals hated him. He was very, very sick. His officers, for example, would report to him on conditions in the field, and he would say: "that's impossible," then fire them if they persisted in their claims. He tried to define reality from his own distorted imagination and personal seclusion.
No, I'm referring to general respect for an office, such as that of a police officer. I was reared, for example, to call him or her an "officer of the law," not a "pig." And this is no slight against Senator Obama. In no way do I feel he was referring to Governor Palin with his lipstick phrase.
However, respect for an office doesn't mean that I approve of what happened with Rodney King.
Make sense? Too many times officers will commit crimes against people of color because of badge arrogance.
By the way, I know of extremely conservative speakers who will compare Senator Obama to Hitler because of his ability to rile up the people and be a "change agent."
If I could, I would caution them as well on their associations. In no way is Barack Obama anything like Hitler, in no way!
I believe that, in our dicussions regarding government, we must avoid being so vicious in our polarization, and so ad hominen in our attacks.
