a new idea...

So, for the past few months(and by months, I mean years), when people have asked me what I am doing after I graduate, I've quickly answered "taking a nap". Well, today, I may have gotten some direction. I was supposed to have a meeting with the Greek Advisor today at 2:30pm(Please excuse the useless details in this story). He called me at about noon and said "Hey, how about we change it to 1:30 and get some food, cause I don't feel like cooking anything in my apartment". Seeing as how I only had leftovers, and I'm always up for a free meal, I agreed. The meeting was supposed to be about revising the Constitution of the Interfraternity Council(The umbrella organization that oversees all recognized fraternities....I was president of it for 2 years). We discussed everything I had done to revise the Constitution while en route to Chili's(Hey, ike I said, it was a free meal...who am I to complain about the choice of restaurant??). From there he started asking about my life and dropped the usual question about my post-graduate plans. I told him what he was entitled to know, no more...from there he threw out the idea of going to grad school, not exactly an original idea. From there, he put out an idea that was new though....he talked about the idea of me actually doing the grad work at Hartford, in the Student Affairs field, because of my "ability to get work done and my love for school"...and to be his graduate assistant dealing with Greek Life. I had joked about the idea before with some of the guys...me eventually being Greek Advisor, kicking everyone else off campus, allowing only TEP to live...we laughed...but this was the first time it was actually suggested by someone in an authoritative position. He described how he graduated, went to Law School, then came here to try to climb the corporate ladder in the school to eventually be a Vice President one day. He then tried to sell me on the same idea, minus the law school stuff. It actually sounded do-able. Who knows more about this school and its Greek System them me? No one. Who has a better idea for me? No one. Who's check clears more often then me? No one(Ok, that was a cheap shot at my school sucking money out of everyone). But seriously...this actually seems like a viable option here. Hell, I can do grad school, and without all the worrying about the rest of the fraternity, I may be able to do it in a reasonable amount of time. This seems like a good idea for me...I don't have to REALLY grow up, its a field I already know, and lets be serious...I'm a control freak and enjoy running things. I think I can do this job. Now I have options...work for Nationals, or go back to school...

That was some of the best news I heard all week...

Well, that...and Krantz. That family rocks.

20.20.11.17 till Becky.

On the downside...its 3:04am and I just realized that the pack of cigarettes I bought under 9 hours ago is almost gone(And by almost, I mean 3 left...no, make that 2). My lungs hate me. For any of the kids reading this...Don't Smoke.
