Bloggin' bout book buying

Did I mention I went book shopping over the weekend? Well, I did. It was raining and gray out, which were enough reasons for me. So I hit up my favorite local used book store (Montclair Book Center) and perused for nearly an hour before I finally walked away with the following (after paying first, of course):

  • Dust by Elizabeth Bear ($3.50, excellent condition)
  • Neuromancer by William Gibson ($3.50, good condition, pre-Hugo win edition methinks, a slight bend to the front cover)
  • The Last Oracle by James Rollins ($3.00, poor condition with a broken spine and faded cover, but intact nonetheless)
Not bad for ten bucks and some change. I need to remind myself more to visit the used book store. They have so much good stuff there, and for the cheap (for example, psst,
squirrel_monkey, they had a copy of Paper Cities in very good condition for $6.00, which I might have to snag the next time I am there...so long as it is still there).

Currently, I'm switching between Dust and Sword and Sorceress XXIV, but I'm totally loving Dust so far. It's is seemingly written for me because it has a lot of Neat! Stuff! Ungendered servants and fallen angels (not the cheesy kind) and named swords and technobabble and and and generation spaceships. It's also inspiring me to think seriously about writing some more. Either way, yum.

bookish things, hugo hugo hugo
