I'd like to submit a new story to Abyss & Apex,
which just opened to subs for May 2009, but I can't. They already have a story of mine, one that's been with them since November 2008. I queried about it three weeks ago; no response yet. The part that worries me is the query address is also the submission address and so I received an automatic response saying, "Our February 2009 reading period is now closed for short fiction and flash fiction. Your submission will NOT be considered and will be deleted." And so I must wait, all while the demon in the back of my mind taunts me with, "Fool! You were rejected eons ago and just missed out on all the fun. Stupid monkey. Muhahaha!"
I'd like to submit to Black Gate,
which opened for submissions today for the first time since 1963, but alas, I'd have to reformat the short story in mind and I don't really have time for that until the weekend is done. But yay! Black Gate...open for subs until June 30!
I'd like to submit something horribly disturbing to Apex Magazine, but
Jason Sizemore recently announced that the mag is taking a bit of a hiatus to focus more on the books department. Good for them, phooey for me...
I'd like to submit a second story to Sword & Sorceress 24,
which is still open for submissions until May 15, but alas, I do not have a great number of sword and sorcery romps with a female protagonist.
I'd like to submit anything to Clarkesworld,
always open for your tales of wonder, but I'm afraid I'd find it in the slush and reject it myself for, and I quote, "Too much tentacle porn, not enough plot."
And that is all...for now.
