Besides the few e-mails I check and respond to every few hours in the hopes of securing residence in the direction of Southern California, I really have little on my agenda and even less in my bank account to merit enough motion or brain power to stir myself to many other activities. I have been getting in a regular regimen of free throws shooting in order to better my percentage. I started during the Celtics/Pistons series and have been keeping with it. Some days are better than others. L brought home a new net to replace the bedraggled (that's putting it nicely... it was beaten like a red-headed step-child) old net still barely hanging onto the rim. Since then, I've been inspired to drag my 71% shooting on the first 300 attempts up to a decent 77% margin after 1,200+ shots.

But none of the reasons I started this meandering train of thought have anything to do with free-throw shooting.

Listed above are the ingredients you'll need to construct the only thing I've baked from scratch in probably the last four years. They're Oatmeal Chip Cookies, with an added touch of New England flavor, courtesy of C's almost never-empty cookie jar on the kitchen counter.

OATMEAL CHIP COOKIES

Blend 1/2 Cup granulated sugar, 1/2 Cup brown sugar, and 1/2 Cup (1 stick) butter into a large bowl. Cream it together, adding 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of water.

Sift together 1 Cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and (optionally) a pinch of salt. Add all that to the creamed mixture. Then, stir in 1 Cup of oats, 1 Cup of chocolate chips, 1/2 Cup walnuts, and a handful of Craisins for flavor, 1/2 Cup or so.

Distribute modest spoonfuls of the mixture on a greased cookie tray.
Bake at 375ª for 10-12 minutes.
Enjoy.

I have to go check e-mail now to see if I found a job yet.
