They talked a bit about their "Puzzle" solo songs on the latest TV guide, so here is the translation of the article! If you're avoiding spoilers, don't click!

RAINBOW PIECES

Subaru's "Piece" - My solo song ("words") is piano and vocal only. There's no other sound. It's only piano, but it's pretty upbeat. I wrote the lyrics and I think I was able to express the Shibutani Subaru of the present. I actually got the song a while ago, but I really couldn't come up with any lyrics, not even 1 line until the day of the recording. After I worked a bit with the pianist, I had everyone wait for 2 to 3 hours and I wrote up the lyrics there. I didn't retake the song either; it was in one-take. Honestly, I sang the song that I had just written the lyrics to, so if you listen carefully I am not saying the words too clearly towards the end and stuff... But those kinds of things make the song even better. I feel like everything from that moment is stuffed into that song. This song was born after my feelings of "wanting to move people's hearts" grew stronger after doing lives with FiVe. I've put a lot of thought into it all. I want people to listen to it without thinking of listening to it; first, please "touch" and "feel" the song without thinking about anything, and then listen to it carefully.

Ryo's "Piece" - My solo song is called "Half Down" and it's a medium-tempo song. I started out by creating the demo tape myself. The arranger shaped things up a bit and then I wrote the lyrics. I then gave it back to the arranger again to finish it up. I feel like it's a song that went through a lot of filters. I'm the type of person who can't write lyrics once I think of "a certain thing" to write, so I write whatever comes to my mind at that point in time. I can only write straight forward lyrics, so I had someone else change some wordings here and there in the end. What I wanted to say is still there, of course. I just had that person change the way to express things. The meanings of the lyrics? I don't care how you perceive it, haha. How should I perform this song at concerts? To me, this song is "complete" as one of the many songs in the album, so it's hard to think of how to actually perform it on stage... I guess it'll be me singing and playing the guitar.

Maru's "Piece" - The theme of my solo song is "a song that gives you energy." I just asked for a song that gives you energy; I didn't care as long as it did that! I just asked to have "that" at the front, middle and end of the song (I'm not telling what "that" is yet, haha!). The most important thing to me when I sing songs is to put emotion into them. Don't you think that a song like this one, something that puts energy at the forefront, is a perfect song for me? If you ask me what my favorite phrase is... I can't choose... But, I've thrown different kinds of balls at you, so it's up to you to decide which one to catch. I hope everyone enjoys it in their own ways. Once you hear it, you'll say "Oh, this is so Maru-chan." I hope people can think positively and forget about the bad things and start off nice and fresh from tomorrow after listening to this song.

Shota's "Piece" - My previous song, "Watashi Kagami," was about a girl's feelings on love, so this "Ailailo" is about a boy's feeling. I wrote the melody first and then the lyrics. The girl he likes already has a boyfriend, and even though he is not going out with her, he is like a "convenient person" to her. No matter how much he loves her, his feelings don't reach her and he's feeling frustrated. I thought that maybe people are free to "want to love" someone, but "wanting to be loved" by someone is your selfishness... "Am I, the one who fell in love, the loser? Or are you, the one who is loved, the winner? Either way, I love you so much." It's that kind of song. I wrote it from a guy's perspective, but I think girls will be able to understand the feeling, too. This actually is my back theme of this song. For the arrangement, I put emphasis on the "air picking" guitar technique where only the brisk sounds of the strings are heard. I'm not gonna tell you how I'm going to perform this at concerts, because I want you all to look forward to it!!

Ohkura's "Piece" - I wrote the lyrics to my solo song. When I first listened to this song, it was a pretty fast, dance piece so I thought that maybe it'll be interesting if I put lyrics about a broken heart. The tone of the song fits that kind of lyric, too. Specifically... it's like not being able to give up on love from the past, haha. Just so you know, this is just based on my imagination! The recording was fun, but it was hard work. The voices you hear in this song are all mine. I sang the chorus, the harmony, the sighs... all me. It took a lot of time to tape it all. It took about 3 to 4 times more than usual... about 3 to 4 hours. Yeah, it was tough... How to perform it at concerts... hmm, I haven't thought about it yet. We haven't decided which songs we're going to sing yet, either. After it's decided that we're going to put this song in as well, I will think about it carefully.

Hina's "Piece" - First of all, the song they gave me was really good. I then started writing the lyrics. I realized that I was writing similar things from the one before, haha ("Forward"). Until then, I was thinking of different ways of expressing the word "let's work hard." Then it suddenly hit me; maybe the person who's really looking at you is "you." I realized that because I was me, I was able to realize that I was writing similar lyrics. That's why the title is "One's shadow." (Your shadow) is always looking at you when you're working hard. On the other hand, if you do something bad, (you) are watching you as well. I think that it's the same thing as "looking back at yourself." I don't have confidence in my singing, haha, but I think that I did what I can. I really think that this is like my "challenge." My impression of the song is that it's really "up in the air," haha. Please listen to it that way!

Yoko's "Piece" - Recently, I visited my grandpa often and I had some opportunities to talk about him as well. Then, I wanted to be able to do something for my grandpa, even though I'm not perfect... Those are the feelings I had while writing the lyrics. Everyone has a family. I realized once again how important family is. I described my image of the song as much as possible to the composer. Specifically... well, I am the kind of guy who lives by the "feelings," so I was only able to tell him "kinda like that," but I really appreciate how he was able to make it really close to my image. I can't explain what type of song this is, haha! It's all "feelings" for me. I feel like everyone has something that is important to them. To me, family is one of them. I'd be happy if everyone can listen to this song while thinking about their own important thing, but it'll be great if you can just listen to it by "feeling" it the way you like it!

They also had the lyrics to "Kicyu," so I will translate it here:

Kicyu (written by Yokoyama Yu, composed by Yasuda Shota)

What's the difference between "kiss" and "chu"?
Is "chu" for kids and "kiss" for adults?
It can't be something that easy!

When we were kids, we used to suck on azaleas together
on our way home from school
Wait a minute? Can this be an indirect kiss!?

We were both kids so is it a "chu"?
I don't understand anymore
Then, we can put the "kiss" and "chu" together
I want to Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu

Kicyu when we go to sleep and wake up
It's a charm between you and me
LOVE power to the forehead, nose and cheek
Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu
I just want to feel your lips

What's the difference between "kiss" and "chu"?
Is "kiss" for night and "chu" for day?
It can't be something that complicated! ...Right

When we both become adults, will it be a "kiss"?
I don't understand anymore
Then, we can put the "kiss" and "chu" together
I want to Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu

Kicyu forever even when we're grown up
It's a promise between you and me
LOVE power that only the two of us can let out
Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu
There's only Kicyu

When I close my eyes I see your face
The more I want to forget
The more I want to feel that mouth
Hold me, stronger, longer
Tell me you like me, more than that girl

We were both kids so is it a "chu"?
I don't understand anymore
Then, we can put the "kiss" and "chu" together
I want to Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu

Kicyu when we go to sleep and wake up
It's a charm between you and me
LOVE power to the forehead, nose and cheek
Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu

Kicyu forever even when we're grown up
It's a promise between you and me
LOVE power that only the two of us can let out
Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu Kicyu
There's only Kicyu
