I have to admit to drooling a little at the thought of your friend's father's leatherworking machines. I sort of hate to be greedy about this, and the truth is that without knowing more I can't honestly say whether I'd have an immediate use for them; but there's a decent chance that I would, and furthermore cool machines/tools. I love them all, and have a hard time resisting any, and sooner or later it's amazing what you might find you can use. And I have studio space I can cram them into, as long as I can wrestle them into the freight hoist in the building (not so simple when you're five feet tall and are trying to deal with an antique industrial zigzag machine, with table and motor, but determination can work wonders). So yes indeed, I would love to at least think serious thoughts about giving a home to whatever your friend needs a home for; although of course if it turns out that this is stuff I can't use, it should really go to someone who can and will.
Either way, though, we should try to make plans? Especially since life is complicated, and arranging to do things in RL always takes longer than I think it will.
