(no subject)
a few links from the show on sat. night. There needs to be a video from where we were, like center line and closer in, but whatevs, at least it gives an impression of what the show was like. Just bear in mind it was open air in central park, and as we walked in there were all these families having picnics, with no idea that in a lil while there would be people rolling and intense beats blaring through the park.
Apart from making friends with my brother's people, I made some new yorker friend who called to check I had a place to stay (yes, partially creepy) and then that I had got home safe on monday. Good connection? I think so.
Basically, after sitting in sheeps meadow for a couple hours on sat, we started drinking at 4 and wandered into the park around 5, just a lil buzzed, nothing crazy. Got into the show, and around 6 (hour and a half late) the show started. That went till around ten or later, with some horrible wheat beer thrown in, and at the end the crowd refusing to leave until an organizer guy kicked all several thousand of us out, saying PVD was done and was not going to be playing anymore tracks. Damn.
Went back to Ben's place, Beija falling asleep, but the rest of us still going. Took a shower, at like 11 or midnight, and had another drink before heading to some very dimly lit, ritzy place called Evelyn's lounge. Experienced the blatant new york drunk use, then went to Pacha, another club, around 1 or 2am. Managed to get out of paying the THIRTY DOLLAR *thank god I don't live there* cover, jumped the block long line, and got into this multi-leveled club with like the number 1 DJ in Amersterdam spinning, the most riidculous bars/bartenders, and at one point I walked by an opaque pillar, that turned out to be a foggy uh, box, with a girl dancing in it, I think painted?
Anyway, left around 4am with ears ringing but very happy, and very hung over the next day. I don't think I've actually ever felt that shitty, but 12hours of dancing/drinking will do that. Saw the psychadelic art exhibit at the Whitney, which was really cool, but had some light shows/strobe light things that did not feel good at the time.
