She jumps at the question, shivers that start to crawl up her spine slowly but not entirely fading as she realizes who it is. The plate is still full of 'food' made just for her.
"It is not as if the view changes. The moon does not wax or wane."
She knows this; she's watched it for a whole week now and the moon hasn't even moved in the slightest. Everything is still: motionless.
"... Do you call for him?"
And she turns this time, a little startled and maybe a little embarrassed at having Ulquiorra know it too. If... if he knew.
"I..."
"He will not come. He cannot hear you."
The words sink in a little, leaving slight depressions in her heart before she carefully brushes them off. No, he shouldn't come. He should stay safe in Karakura with everyone else.
"I wasn't calling for him..."
He stares at her with the same expressionless mask that he wore at their first meeting before walking out of her room as abruptly as he came in. He does not even glance at the untouched dishes sitting beside the chair.
"I will request curtains for the window. Perhaps that will help you eat."
Her legs give way as she collapses onto the floor, looking at the idle moon with a prayer upon her lips.
