Miracle Dog.....Really!
Took my Dogs on a stroll by Lunnbreck Falls in the foothills of the Rockies in S. Alberta yesterday. Very windy. Two of the three are old (16yrs) deaf, and mostly blind mixed breeds. And Small (under 14 lbs). I got thinking as we climbed to about 30 feet above the river that I should be careful that the wind doesn't blow one or both over the drop off (30 feet) and into the river. I turned around and there was the 1 old dog...but not the second. I FREAKED. I looked over the ledge..no dog..I walked back down the trail..no dog...then I heard him cry out...and there he was ...on the other side of the river..this old, blind(missing 1 eye), arthritic dog not only survived a fall of 30 feet..he swan across a foot foot wide expanse of ice cold,swift current. Needless to say I waded across, fell 4 times on the process to rescue him. The old boy came out of the whole ordeal with nothing more than a slightly strained back...fucking amazing.
