Furfright and Life Update
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but truthfully there isn’t too much interesting for me to post so I’ve been quiet as of late, mostly reading LJ instead of blogging.
I’ve been planning on attending Furfirght but I’m still hunting around for a room, I haven’t had much luck yet finding one. Looks like this is a con where I do have trouble finding a room, but if anyone has one available I’m looking. Otherwise I'll just pass on Furfright and possible do another con.
Things have been good otherwise: the weather has been on the pro-motorcycling side of things with little rain so I’ve been riding lots this summer. It’s getting into mid September and we’re still in the mid-20C (about 70F to 80F) here, so still plenty of nice weather for riding.
I’ve been doing maintenance on the car this year changing probably every fluid in it, so it should be good for a while with exception to the engine oil. The bikes I’ve been doing the regular maintenance, but I still need to do the valve clearance on the Bandit, which is a good one day job or more depending on if the clearance is off. I’ve kind of been avoiding that due to all the work involved.
I’ve been pondering getting an FA account and decided that if I make another fursuit I’ll get one, as I don’t really have anywhere where I’ve posted the suits I’ve made. Granted, I’m not sure when I’ll make my next suit. Winter time sounds good when I don’t have the ability to do outdoor-ish stuff.
I stumbled across these videos after AnthroCon while looking up videos on Sardyuon’s (one of the 2012 GOHs) acrobatic act at AnthroCon. It looks like on the other side of the world the kemonos (Japanese furries) have made a dance group, either picking up dance routines from video games or other video’s and making a video of it themselves. Check out the dance videos they have so far, in order of when they came out (and mostly in Japanese):

I’ve, for some reason, been really amused (maybe slightly obsessively so) by these videos and what’s going on with the kemono group. It’s kind of odd since I haven’t had too much interest in the furry dance competitions here. I’m guessing I prefer the type of music and the perceived choreography more than the dance competitions more improvised feel.
What I also find amusing with the kemono group is that they’ve kind of basically are a divergent/convergent group with the furries. Furries and kemono had the same starting point of the interest in anthropomorphic animals, but due to a rather large language barrier we did things in different ways. Now that newer websites are out that are a lot more international, like youtube, picture sharing sites and online translators, we’re starting to merge back together and share information.
From that I can see all the things they’ve done differently, like how they make their suits differently, or how the cons there are different, what are the primary interests, etc. It’s kind of fun as it is like finding a new large branch of the furry group that was recently locked away.
Anyhow, back to the bit about the kemono dance group. Since I have been so interested in it, I figure I put it to good use and use it as an exercise routine by learning the moves and actually dancing to the songs. I figure it would at least give me some much needed exercise as well as I come out learning how to dance to a few songs. Possibly entertain someone someday. Who knows?
So, like all my other journals, this one has become longer than I probably should have made it, but that’s what I’ve been up to. I could probably stand to use more socializing in my life, but otherwise it’s been a good summer.
