“Uncle, I have brought him.” Gilbert announced, gesturing at the innocent man. It was him. The king was shocked with surprise, he never knew Gilbert, the same Gilbert who was scared of a donut’s ghost, can find him.
His black hair swayed whilst bowing to the royals to show respect. “King Roman and Queen Rupee, I am Rod-”
“Yeah, yeah, we know loser,” Gilbert marched his way to the aristocrat, then grabbing him by the collar. The queen jumped and wanted to stop them fighting but the king did not let her. “Where is Elizaveta, Roderich.”
“Wait,” Roderich coughed as he turned his head. “What do you mean? I never heard anything about this at all.”

At least he died being what he was made for, right? A deprived sigh escaped the author's lips; eyes dropped to the ground. Their relationship was so unordinary - unexpected. Although, it was a mistake at first, it gradually turn to -- what's the word? Damn, it seems like the author has forgotten what to say. But yes, it was not even fate that brought them together, nevertheless, a mistake. Shall we start in the beginning of this tragic tale? This cruel, calamitous tale…
In a powerful kingdom, with land full of healthy crops and magnificent structures, the praised queen gave birth to a beautiful child. A charming princess that seemed like the personification of a rose with white meticulous skin, brown glossy hair that shone brighter than the moon, and even adorable eyes like a seal that you can get lost to. Sad thing is no one has ever seen the royal princess. Ever since she was a child, the princess was forbidden to be seen by the commoners and anyone lower than her parents, the king and queen. The princess had to lived in her castle all the way up where no one could see her.
She didn't have many friends, but the ones she could trust were the animals living in the palace. Creatures such as mice, birds, and horses were her real friends. The princess was known to be perfect in every way even if the kingdom haven't seen her yet. Sure, she got bored being in the castle alone for almost everyday, but on her 20th birthday, she will finally have her freedom. When the day finally came, everyone in the kingdom celebrated and partied for her royal highness's grand event. Mouth-watering, heavenly appetizers were cooked for the kingdom. Delighted, cheerful faces and expressions were spread throughout the whole kingdom for the princess' celebration. Fireworks with mighty booming sounds and iridescent august colors shall flash up in the dark sky at night.
Although, something horrible happened to the royal unexpectedly. The king and queen were madly depressed in despair for their missing daughter. The princess was gone; kidnapped by the kingdom's horrible threat, the witch. The witch probably grew jealous of the princess' attractiveness and charms, that herself, a daughter of the trolls and witches, kidnapped her. Everyone in the kingdom knew the hideous witch. They say she was more cruel than the devil, eyes as sharp as a pointy, dangerous dagger, and a beauty that an ass can win. But it's been years since she has attacked the kingdom of shawol, what could the reason be for the evil witch to come by?
"Mhmm..." a low groan escaped the young knight's red lips. The bright yellow sun made a grand entrance inside the boy's room, bothering him. Making its way in, the sun directed its lights to reflect the knight's sleeping eyes. A knock sounded the door lightly as if the knight was still a sleeping child. The gentle knock repeated again, not missing one beat. His shining green orbs finally lifted to the world yet still stumbling. He groggily push himself up to at least sit down on his bed. The knight knew he didn't want to get up nor be awake, but he also knew he couldn't let the girl on the door be kept waiting.
The green eyed man tried to balance himself as he took each step, motivating his mind to get closer to the door. His pale rough hands unlocked the metal glazed handle with a yawn. Once the door opened, a tanned petite lady stood outside with a huge smile and blushing cheeks, holding to what it seems, breakfast. "Artie!" she squealed, happily. Her eyes showed gentleness and concern to the man inside. The young man scratched his nape as his eyes blinked in annoyance.
"I told you, don't call me that, Victoria. It's Arthur."
"Ah! I'm sorry, Artie. I was just thinking of the old times when we were kids on my way here. Sorry, Artie! Ah! I said it again, Arti- Please forgive me!"
"Come in," he sighed.
Arthur, Arthur Kirkland. The knight of the kingdom Shawol, one of the best actually. They call him the knight of time. Why? Well, because of his amazing fighting skills, the people of the kingdom always said that he can defeat anyone any time, may it day or night. At a young age, he was able to finish the enemies of the king and protect the kingdom of Shawol. He wasn't famous only for that, but also his good-looking features and charms. Almost as if he was fit for the princess. His huge alluring jade eyes, well built body with milky white skin, and his personality of a gentleman despite being a knight.
His sweet charms can make any woman fall head over heels for him. The position he's in wasn't too low nor too high. A knight. The perfect knight. Although, this knight can be quite cold and gets easily irritated to his rivals such as his younger brother, Alfred. Arthur didn't have a lot of friends, yet alone a family. He was bad at socializing, especially expressing his feelings. The young knight may be a bit of a lone wolf but as long as he's standing tall and great, he doesn't have to worry about anything. Except when his brother's bothering him.
"I made you food for your arrival. I hope you like it." Victoria said, showing the basket she was holding. She took out the containers and opened them. "Look, I made your favorite, Arthur! Scones." Victoria handed it to him. Arthur could smell the sweet aroma of the pastry without even looking at it. He knew she would make it for him, ever since they were small, Victoria was like the book about Arthur. She knew his favorite food, allergies, and even when he first got--
"You didn't have to do this, you know." he replied, opening his mouth so the warm biscuit can enter his starving stomach.
"It was no bother! All I had to do was wake up at 4:00. How is it?"
"It tastes delicious. Have some, you're the cook. But really, you didn't have to. Thank you."
"O-oh, but, I wanted you to have it..." her voice started cracking as small tears formed in her eye. The small, petite head of hers dropped down to the ground with a shameful expression. Arthur couldn't help but freak out watching his childhood friend. "I-I mean it's okay! I'll eat all the food deliciously! Thank you very much, Victoria!" he quickly uttered while showing the girl he's eating it cheerfully. Victoria watched her friend eat as she smiled at him. How could she fall for this idiot? This cold yet adorable idiot…
She and Arthur met as small children. Family friends to be specific. After Arthur and Alfred’s parents left them at Victoria’s house, their carriage accidentally crashed. Thus, their parents became deceased and forever gone. Since then, Victoria and her family took great care of Arthur and Alfred. Victoria grew to a sudden likeness to Arthur over their time together. Arthur never knew this and but did made his heart beat whenever she’d do something unexpected to him. Things such as hugging him and saying loveable words; Arthur was clueless, especially about love.
His brother, Alfred, saw that Victoria really liked him. So much that she was willing to do anything for Arthur. Alfred didn’t like the idea of her liking his brother. Brother complex, he says but really, he just doesn’t want Arthur to leave him behind like their parents. He knew that Arthur have small feelings for Victoria as well, but to him, marriage is like abandoning your loved ones to someone else. Alfred and Arthur may get into huge and idiotic fights but under all the hate is love. They are brothers after all…

“And this, this thing happens when you’re in love! I don’t know what it is but…it’s just so fantastic and magical like, you know? I-I don’t know how to explain it at all, Maria. I’m sorry,” the soft voice explained to the eager witch. The witch’s brown orbs fell to the ground in disappointment. She was really looking forward to the princess’ amazing stories about love and such stuff. What an upsetting conversation. The witch’s lip flipped down to a pout with saddening eyes. The princess can’t help but feel sorry for her kidnapper. She put down her warm smooth hands at the shoulders of the witch and started rubbing it for comfort. “Hey, you know, everyone usually finds it out. If yours and my parents found it, I’m sure we’ll find it as well. Love will always find a way...”
“Sure! For a fool to love someone like me, the evil witch. Run! Run for your life, she’s cruel as maleficent. Her hideous face will turn you stone. No one can see my face, Elizaveta. No way will I find love.” the witch’s tone was sad and hopeless. All the stories she would always listen to the princess mainly sounded like a fairytale. She wasn’t fit to find love. She wasn’t a beautiful princess like Elizaveta. A witch, that’s what she was, a misunderstood witch that no one likes - except the forest animals and the princess.
“Maria! Don’t say that, you horrible thing. If you don’t believe in it, it won’t come true. Look at me, I grew up with mostly men, especially with that turd Gilbert,” her voice sounded annoyed once she mentioned the arrogant albino. “What do you expect from a girl like that? Of course it’s, 'I don’t have time for love.' Well, guess what? When I ran away from the kingdom, I found true love! My dear sweet prince charming, Roderich. The most intelligent and handsome man out there! Better than that idiot Gilbert.” the princess’ eyes twinkled in love, imagining her dear prince. The witch was slightly jealous as she smiled sadly to her. At least she has found love, the witch’s thoughts were.
“But, how does that affect me? You found love when you weren’t thinking of it.”
“Oh! I-I I’m sorry… But don’t put yourself down! You’re beautiful! Just because I’m a princess doesn’t mean I found love. It’s because I’ve believed in it. Love is everywhere, my sweet Maria. It doesn’t have to be romantically, too~” The princess’ words help the witch become more uplifted about the future, just a slight bit though. She stared at Elizaveta as the princess blabbered about her prince Roderich.
Oh how longing did the witch wanted love! She never had parents for they had to abandon her because of the rules and laws of being a magical creature. She wasn’t able to experience a parent's love, especially a romantic one. The witch may be known to be diabolic but in reality, she wasn’t that bad. That’s why the princess didn’t really care if it was the witch that kidnapped her. The witch was really cheerful and fun to talk to. She’s a happy lady with big dreams to find love like Elizaveta.
A prince. A sweet charming prince that’ll love her for herself.
Maria, Maria de la Cruz. She chose that name for her. Pretty, right? Only if she thought the same way as herself. Because of the law in the, let's say, magical creatures, Maria was abandoned by her mother and father. Despite being stereotyped as a hideous and evil witch, Maria was nothing like that! Elizaveta saw what kind of girl Maria was. A girl who has a lot to learn about love and everything. A naive, innocent girl looking to be accepted in the outside world.
A lady waiting to be saved from this goddamn tower like a princess in distress.
From afar, Maria has always loved watching the festivals and celebrations from the kingdom. She wanted to be part of it, too. Jumping up and down, socializing like the way she does with the animals, and also tasting those miraculous food made from heaven - Maria really loves to eat, especially mangoes. Sometimes, she doesn't have friends to talk to, so at night, she would let cold teardrops fall down her sunkissed skin until she falls asleep. Her friends were the forest animals, just like the princess except Maria has more variety of creatures. Animals such as fawns, rabbits, and even frogs. So in some ways, she's like the princess.
"By the way, Maria, have you seen any knights or something like that going here?" Elizaveta asked.
The witch grew worried, she didn't want the princess to leave yet. No, not now! She was like her older sister and her only human friend. "W-why? Are you going to be rescued?"
"Apparently. I'm sorry, Maria. I want to spend more time with you, too. If only my stupid father, who listens to that conceited Gilbert, listen to me. You're not bad as you think you are, Maria. In fact, you're probably more fit for a princess!" Elizaveta smiled, stretching while getting up. “Well, I must go clean now~” the princess sang as she grabbed the broom near the closet. “Maria~ Cheer up, I’ve other stories for you once I’m done cleaning! Especially about my adventures-”
“With that turd Gilbert, yes, I know Elizaveta.”
“Yes. Well, you sure catch up fast, don’t you? What can you expect, I grew up with him. That arrogant Gilbert Bielshmidt.” the princess continued naming the silvered hair prince as she sweep the floor.
“O-okay. I’ll go outside and find wood.”

Loud chatterings of vendors spread through the village as Arthur and Victoria walked around. Gossips about the lost princess was still active. Merchants and customers would talk about it despite it being like a taboo. The sun was still shining and bothered almost everyone in town. But the one that was bothered the most was a man named Arthur Kirkland.
Arthur heard almost every vendor talk about the missing princess, but how come he has never heard of it before? Why didn’t the king sent word to him?
“Yes, thank you. Please keep the change.” Victoria said, giving a usual bright smile.
“Oh, thank you very much Lady…”
“Oh no! It’s just Miss Victoria.” the seller gave a gesture to Victoria to come closer. As she obeyed, the old lady whispered, “I’m very sorry, Miss. You two look like a man and wife.” then giving a smile. In return, Victoria flustered with red. Meanwhile, Arthur stood tall and straight whilst crossing his arms, making him look like his on duty and Victoria as the princess. Showing his cool, Arthur attracted the ladies’ attention, giving him looks. In his mind, Arthur was all about the lost princess. He was confused and was in deep thought. As the two continued walking again, he finally released his anxiety.
Tapping the girl, he asked, “Hey, have you heard anything about the princess?” Victoria stopped in shocked. She slowly turned her head to him. “A-Arthur, I don’t think this is the right time to talk about it. But yes, I do.” Arthur nodded his head knowing she'll tell him later. He has been so curious about the situation, he couldn’t help but talk about it. Especially about a royal he has never seen before.
In the castle
“What are we going to do, Roman?! For lord’s sakes, our daughter has been kidnapped by her! That witch!” the queen nagged and yelled to the king. The king was tired from his wife’s constant nagging that the words from her mouth just went from one ear to another, not even caring anymore. It has been a week since their daughter’s kidnap yet no one has thought of a plan to save her. They’re too afraid of the evil witch.
Would you shut up for at least a second, woman?, that’s what he wanted to tell her but of course, he couldn’t. Where do you think Elizaveta got her fighting skills from? Not her father.
“Tell me, Roman! Do you even care about our daughter?”
“Of course, I do, darling. It’s just that..”
“What?! Good God. Find a way or Lord so help me, I’m finding Elizaveta through those woods!”
The queen sighed after taking a seat on her throne. She could not believe how useless her husband has been.
“I already sent Gilbert’s army to find our daughter. Darling, don’t be mad at me. I love you. Ti amo. Ich liebe dich. Wo ai ni.”
But her husband was quite the charmer. Suddenly the door blasted open with Gilbert showing himself in his full army uniform. He looked dashing and handsome as always. The king still can’t understand how Elizaveta would not fall for someone like him, but instead, a low class aristocrat...Roderich Edelstein…
