God, tonight was a bad night. They brought in two kids, teenagers. One was DOA and the other dama near. The boy who lived suffered massive blood loss. We have dealt with this so much out at the base, but those are adult. Grown men and women who chose this way of life, who knew the risks they were taking when they signed up. But these were kids, babies. It's tragic.

We typed and crossmatched the boy, gave him transfusions. We are watching for hypovelemic shock. Thats all we can do for now. The rest is up to him. I hope the kid is strong in spirit. Someone in the group that came in after him called his parents. They came in a complete mess. I heard someone say that they had lost their oldest son the same way. God, no words exist in the human language to comfort parents in a situation like this.
