Teenage Dirtbag

Apparently I just love watching depressing movies when I'm already sick and down...

Got this one following my Greek obsession and curiosity of seeing Cappie being un-Cappie like. Honestly I didn't think I'd love this so much. It's been a while since a movie touched me this way. It reminds me of Dandelion and Keith, both pleasant surprises (though the word pleasant is probably inappropriate here all things considered ;)).

So here's a mini (spoilers free!) picspam just to rec the movie.

I knew a boy named Thayer Mangeress. I had the good fortune of being close to him.
Alphabetically.

I breathe deep the fragrance of regret.
Bright orange. Frosty white.
Snow-covered doom encircling me now.

Mad. Mad thoughts. Crazy, twisted, sinewy.
Mad obsession. You sicken me. You're so beautiful, love.
I grind you into a fine, soft powder and inhale you and then lick you off of my fingers.
You love, answer me. Your face brings me death every day.
And every day I can't wait to die.
Bury me now, love. Bury me now.

Soundtrack:
Casey Frazier - Elysian Fields
so if I die, let my blood leave a stain

Geno Leonardo - You're Not Gonna Save Me
and I can't see, with everybody looking at me

The Small Hours - Wonderful World
no one about so you please yourself, please yourself, please yourself

On one hand it might seem a typical indie production with a sad story told through gritty images. Its simplicity is its greatest quality, though.

This is a love story without a single touch or kiss. Declared through (truly brilliant) poetry and written confessions in a notebook. Fulfilled in dreams.
It's emotional and touching and I challenge you not to feel for these characters by the end of the story.

Kudos to the writer/director for such a debut. And for the choice of soundtrack which is insanely fitting and simply gorgeous.

On a slightly different note, Scott looks so freakishly young in this, it's kinda creepy. The movie's only from 2009 and there's just no comparison with how he looks on Greek.
