Love, an analogy

Love, an analogy.

Love is like an ice cream sundae. First you start out with a cup. The cup represents trust, the more sturdy the cup the more trust there is. Then you put some ice cream into the cup. The ice cream represents love and without the cup you just have ice cream in your hand which would melt rather quickly and you will be left with one big sticky mess. So, you can't have love without trust just like you can't have an ice cream sundae without a cup. Each cup represents each person in your life.

The most basic flavor of ice cream is vanilla. It is the base with which you start to build your sundae. And just like love, it is the same base you have for every sundae that you are going to build. That is to say, love is love is love. No matter who it is that you love, it is the same love that you feel for them. The love you have for your parents is the same love you have for your kids (if you have any of those) it is the same love you have for your friends and the same love you have for everyone you have dated or will ever date. Back to the sundaes. Now that you have your ice cream base, you can start to add things to it. These are all of the other emotions you feel along with love. If it is a long time trusted close friend you might have layered on lots of respect and admiration and dedication etc. If it is a lover you might have layered on some lust and romance. If it is your young child you might have lots of dedication and protectiveness. Just like you layer on different flavorings and toppings into and onto your sundae.

This is just a rough draft that I hope to one day refine.
