It's a small point but I just have to say to anyone who still reads el jay and is any way inclined to do any form of sporting event for a charity, don't choose the British Red Cross, under any circumstances.

It's the small things, like the fact that they said "if you agree to raise money for us, then we'll send yo a cycling top worth £50", then when you signed the thing and got the welcome pack it had changed to "a t-shirt", which never turned up either. No communication ever recieved about why they didn't keep to their word.

It's the large things, like the fact that other charities send you things like "thank you for raising money" emails or invite you to a "pasta party" the night before the event - small things that make you feel valued, rather that repeatedly leaving passive aggressive voicemails on your home phone, or phoning you up to ask if you'll "charity mug" for them (for free and with any money not going towards your total).

I got whanted out of the arangement (a place in the ride 100 and to raise money which I genuinely think will be put towards a good cause), but there are few times in my life where "good" work has left this much of a sour taste in the mouth
