Monsanto is an agricultural corporation, perhaps best known for its weed killer Roundup.
What many may not know, is that Monsanto was a producer of the Agent Orange defoliant that was used during the Vietnam War, as well as the controversial DDT insecticide. So as you can see, Monsanto has got it down in the death & destruction department...but what else are they doing?
Monsanto is also working in the area of biotechnology. They are tweaking seeds so that:
A] after the crop is harvested, the seeds that are produced will be dead. (This will require farmers to buy more seeds to be able to grow more crops, aka "Terminator" technology); and
B] the crops cannot be killed by Roundup. (Called Roundup-Ready, the farmer can spray his fields w/ Roundup to kill everything but the crop. Only problem is, where do the chemicals go? In your body when you eat the food...)
You even have to have Monsanto's fertilizer, in order for the seeds to grow.
Monsanto will sue farmers that, through no intention of their own, have their crops contaminated with Monsanto's patented seed by cross-pollination...effectively putting them out of business & eliminating any potential competition.
Basically, Monsanto wants complete & total domination of farming crops, & by extension, the food that we eat.
Monsanto is also trying to prevent milk producers from labeling their milk as "rBGH-free" (recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone, another Monsanto creation). Monsanto argues that such labeling portrays rBGH, & by association, Monsanto in a negative light.
In addition, after the earthquake in Haiti, Monsanto donated some 475 tons of their genetically-altered seeds to the farmers. The Haitian farmers, realizing that the Monsanto seeds were garbage, not only rejected, but vowed to burn the seeds.
And this should tell you everything that you need to know about Monsanto.
But if you want to know more, look them up. You can also watch the documentaries Deconstructing Supper, & Percy Schmeiser: David Versus Monsanto.
* as a sidenote, Dole Foods (yes, the pineapple company) has a 5 yr partnership with Monsanto, so you might want to avoid their products.
