On Thursday I went to Bristol for the AGM of the
Monkton Group PLC - a company in which I have taken an interest for some time. It was quite encouraging. The group seems to be progressing well and the discussions I had with one of the directors was a boost to my desire to try and pursue my interests in this area.
My nature is to think mostly in terms of technical issues, but I fear the significant changes that could be made are down to public attitudes and politics. Not my strong point, but I'm trying to think of ways I might contribute that would have an influence at that level.
Only about 50 percent of UK electricity customers have ever changed their supplier and of those that have, most seem to have done so on the basis of cost rather than energy source. This leaves a lot of scope for improvement. Power supply issues do seem to be have been the focus of media attention recently, so I wonder what would persuade more people to consider taking the simple direct action of choosing a 'green' supplier.
