Since I brought my car back from North Carolina I hadn't ridden the bus much (the busses I normally ride go to places where parking exists, as opposed to the El which takes me downtown). But this past week I've been riding the busses quite a bit, especially this weekend. The three busses that go through my neighborhood have quite different characteristics. The 92 Foster bus is very blue collar/eastern european. The 22 Clark bus is quite hispanic/hipster. The 36 Broadway bus is normally half sleepers/homeless (at least up in my neighborhood it is). I thought the other busses that skirt the neighborhood (the 50 Damen and 146 Express) would be similar to the 22 and 36 respectively but this weekend I found out they are not. The 50 is a weird one.... at least on the weekend it seems like everyone who rides it has children with them. The hipster ratio is also quite high. The 146 seems to be a tourist shuttle...and tends to empty out once it's north of Belmont. I suspect weekday demographics are much different....
