Bahá’í

Went out to the Bahá’í Temple in Wilmette today and took a few pics...it was a beautiful crisp day with a brilliant blue sky. We hadn't really intended to go into the "visitor's center" but did, and were greeted by eerily peaceful and attractive hosts who guided us into the small theater to watch the initiation informational film. It actually was quite interesting. I didn't know anything about the Bahá’í faith and left with a good impression. Essentially they are the Eastern branch of the Unitarian Universalist church...well not really, but close enough. They believe that all the prophets came from the same god and essentially open the temple to anyone for meditation and scripture (of any faith) reading. My kinda religion, were I the religious sort.

Wilmette itself struck me as odd. Imagine getting off the CTA and walking 100 feet to the front door of a multi-million dollar house (I suspect that's what houses in the area cost). It seemed more like Petoskey, Michigan than a suburb of Chicago. We didn't tarry too long as it was getting cold but I did take a few pics...

More of the same on my Flickr site.

I'm feeling the love today. :-)
