Yeah, it's been a while, but the last couple weeks of school will do that to you..... I survivd though and am now safely ensconced (such a great word, especially to say out loud) in my good old home. The last couple weeks were brutal, particularly since I was so incredibly burned out that nothing was interesting to me, which therefore made working hard on them very low on the priority list. But, I finished my first thesis and have made some progess on my other one- meaning that the films have been ordered and I have a couple resources to do some preliminary research and writing over break- I turned in my 14 page history paper and took my two ass-kicking finals (actually only one of them was truly ass kicking, since I really didn't understand much of the second half of rat lab, while my IR one was only half so). The bright light at the end of that tunnel, though, was going to see Return of the King. I still say it's the best of the three, since it had perfect pacing, all the right elements of drama and adventure, Sean Astin was phenomenal in particular, though all the actors were amazing, and it ended exactly where the book did, which is quite an accomplishment. Oh, yeah, and it had another one of those bad-ass Legolas-does-something-awesome moments- during which the entire theater cheered when I saw it. Beyond that, I had a nice couple of days to relax before I left, full of Indian food, Xmas gifts, and fun with the girlfriend. Despite the rush to leave, due to changing schedules and such, I managed to pack all the essentials- except all my toiletries, some of my xmas gifts, my clock, my stereo and my ski boots. But at least I remembered my phone charger.... The flight home was uneventful, aided primarily by the Rolling Stone 500 greatest albums of all time issue, and here I am once more. I'm doing pretty well this time with the whole being home thing, since it's a nice break from the stress and pain-in-the-assness of the past semester. Doesn't mean I'm exactly happy about it, since I already miss my friends and such, but it's better than it's ever been. I think it would really help if I had some actual friends to look forward to coming back to, but I'm not going to complain about that, since I've done that far too many times previously. That being said, though, if anybody reading this is going to be in the Truckee/Lake Tahoe area between now and January 15th, let me know and maybe we can hang out or something. So, yeah, that's about it. Since I actually have time, I may end up updating more, but then again I may not, since I doubt too much worth noting is going to happen. Only time will tell....
