AWWWWWWW! Jack the Monkey reminds me of a small, affectionate cat I used to babysit, who knew how to hug people by putting his paws around their necks. A lot of the AWWWWWW is for Barbossa too. Like we said somewhere else--even scary old undead pirate captains need small cuddly pets to love.

As you know, I've always tended to the view that Barbossa secretly dotes on Jack the monkey. (Which makes it all the more interesting that he chose that name, and that shirt for her/him.) I nearly squealed in the cinema when the AWE monkey nut moment happened. Which leads me to thinking how weird it must all be for human Jack. As if the mutiny wasn't bad enough, imagine finding that your ex has named his cute, furry sublimation object after you!
Also, I was uncomfortable with the cutesy anthropomorphising of Monkey!Jack in AWE. This story was my attempt to come to terms with that. I really thought I'd written something deeply weird. But that was before I read this: http://community.livejournal.com/heave_ho/49387.html

I found this series again~ Amazing what watching five seconds of one of the movies that you haven't watched in ages can do :D Got me writing fanfiction again AND looking for old fics. But I didn't realize I was behind! Ohhh how glad I am that there was new stuff for me to read~ And this... this was absolutely wonderful XD Yay monkey PoV! *will happily finish reading*~

Brava for keeping the two Jacks straight, somehow seems like it must have been a nightmare to write - a bit like a threeway sex scene, I would imagine.
And who knew GR's script had all those extra "a"'s and "r"'s in it? Thanks for clarifying that, here all along I thought he was making that stuff up all by his onesies. *g*

It was confusing to write. I had to make myself a list of who calls who what, and which pronouns they use. The monkey read Barbossa's script over his shoulder so, yep, it's true about the As and Rs.
I've become very attached to my female version of little Jack. If you like her, she has a short fic of her own called "Monkey's Worst Nightmare". You should check it out if only for the wonderful pic by ladymouse2.
