valentine's 2006

so Valentine's was this week. how was yours? mine was suh-weet. but before getting started, i just have to jot down Jeremiah's reaction to the birthday gift Bur and i gave him.

[opens gifts]
Jeremiah: ooh! Jeff Corwin!

it was so cute! a 3 year old, mind you! ah, so adorable.
we got him a Jeff Corwin dvd box set, because he loves watching those shows on Animal Planet. the fact that he recognized the dude from his face alone and knew his name... what a smart kid.

Bay planned it all as a surprise, and had me "guessing" and trying to fake me out all evening, but i eventually caught on to him. it started with a lovely bouquet of red tulips with a simple note of "be mine." to reciprocate, i presented him with a box of home-baked frosted sugar cookies, and a dvd of a docu film called The Corporation. after my class we went to eat an early dinner at King's Fish House. that place is becoming our traditional spot for VDay; 3 years in a row we had dinner there for that occasion. love that place. delicious food. we beat the rush for dinner, because when we left, there were a lot of people waiting to be seated.

a quick trip to Borders for some coffee. i actually thought the night would just be dinner but he had something else in mind. i was actually trying to look for a book but there was no time. unfortunately i can't remember the name of the book (then and now, even), so the next time i'm at Borders i'll be looking for a while.

next was a drive up north. this kinda freaked me out cause we never hang in north county SD. so the further up we went, especially going past La Jolla, i was started to get scared. not a bad scared, but a, where the f@ck are we going scared. i don't like being unsure of things, so it was a bit nerve wrecking. i had made a joke earlier at dinner when he said he had a present for me; he reached for his pocket so as a joke, i said, "ok" and presented my left hand for him to slip a ring on. haha! it got a laugh out of him, so that was good. the gift was a decal for the SD Zoo, btw (i *heart* animals).

so anyhow, back to this unknown drive. where were we going? why are we going further and further north? we never go north. well, then i just got stupid in the head. what if that joke i made was for real? what if he was going to propose? holy shit, are we going towards a beach? where are we going? nah, it's not time; he's not ready. did he get that big ass ring i suggested?

back and forth in my mind i kept being stupid with stupid thoughts. did i dare mention it to him? hell no! could he possibly be reading this? yes. *embarrassed*. stupid, huh baby? hahaha *evil laugh*!

we were getting into the Del Mar area, and finally we hit the exit. what... are we going to Del Mar Fairgrounds? what's over there? it's dark. there's no horses out now. it's not racetrack season (is it?), it's not fair season. what's over there?

what's over there, you ask? freggin only CIRC DU SOLEIL'S QUIDAM!!! it was an awesome show. my first circ show. i can't even pinpoint what was my favorite moment, i just loved it all. and GREAT seats to boot! went home with a cd; that music is so hauntingly beautiful. i just adored it.

afterwards it was homeward bound, for i had classes the next day.
but what a lovely Valentine's night it was.

real life, valentine's 2006
