hello, lovely journal. and friends who read it.
well, a lot has happened so quickly since the last time i posted. summer school is flying by so fast, i'm constantly stressed out. project after project is due, i get no free time for anything other than school, taking care of my bettas, attempting to bond with our kittens, and seeing my man on occasion, sadly.
anyhow, there's not much i really want to say except to fill in the blanks with our kittens.
so, MingMing has been coming around, but she totally rejected her kittens, which was heartbreaking. a night came by when the kittens were in the yeard, and their momma came to eat. they looked so happy to see her, but when they approached her, she hissed at them. all 3 of them. she even swiped at Panther! i was shocked and furious. the only reason we invested in these strays was for the kittens, so it's natural for me to want to protect them, even from their momma.
since then, it's been like a turf war here. MingMing tries to sneak in and grab food, but i chase her away if her babies are around in the yard. my mom is still completely sorry for her, so we try to feed her separately, and observe the babies while she eats. the kittens, especially Panther and Leo, really dislike the idea of her eating their food. i think poor Puma still wants to snuggle up to his momma, but for his safety i make sure he stays away from her.
we started feeded the 3 babies in our patio area, which requires them to enter our house. they've come accustomed to it quickly, but is still nervous and a bit scared when they see us. we can't understand why they haven't trusted we won't hurt them yet, but eventually with time it'll work out, hopefully. Leo is such the curious cat, exploring every part of the patio. Panther is getting there, while Puma sticks close to one of the other too. i truly think he's the baby of them all.
my mother and i tried going to our local animal shelter to get a trap for them, but they refused to rent one to us, for the fact that our kittens are "feral". i mean, it's not like they're wild crazy cats- just born in the wild. but still, they insisted we either adopt their cats and abadon ours. and they they tried to blame us for being irresponsible with our cats, because we haven't gotten them nuetered yet-- hello, we're there for a trap in order to catch them, in order to get them nuetered, WTF! i was pissed. they wouldn't rent us a trap, and rather we go all the way out to Mira Mesa, which isn't close to our location AT ALL, and get a trap from the Feral Cat Coalition, where it takes months and a waiting list to get a trap. it was such a frustrating experience. so as of now, no trap or capture. i'm getting on my mom's case to do something, but i think she doesn't want to, no matter how much she wants these cats. so i don't know what to do. i can't do it all myself, i'm stressed enough with work and school. i don't know.
okay, i'm done ranting. i need to get ready to go. till next time.
cats,
