ahhhh!
man, Alpha jumped out of his tank this morning as i was feeding him and luckily landed in my plastic garbage bag next to the tanks. OMG, i freaked the hell out. i screamed. i didn't even have a net nearby. i emptied the trash, and gently pushed him forward. it scared me, but i wasn't too worried about any deaths because i've read so many jumping horror stories and survivals. but damn, my heart nearly stopped when he jumped out. he could of gotten lost on my dirty messy floor (yes, my room is a mess, we all know this)! we're both so lucky he landed in my trash bag. and so lucky that that trash bag was just emptied the night before, so not much was inside.
my poor guy. so i'm pushing him forward and he starts to wiggle and waggle and jumps again and he lands on Pinky's tank, near the back by the opening! holy shit, what was i gonna do if he landed inside or wiggled into her tank, there'd be a brawl i wouldn't be able to break up! and i was already late for work as it is!
luckily again, he jumped the other way and landed into his tank. he sunk to the bottom, poor guy, all traumatized, fins clamped. he recovered well in about 5 minutes and i gave him a dose of stress coat to help him regain some slime and other stuff. de-stress the poor fellow.
hopefully he'll learn as Pinky did and never jump out again. i don't think his intention was to jump out, though, cause he knew i was going to feed him. he normally jumps out straight into the air but lands back straight again. i think it was just because i just changed his water last night and the fill line was higher than normal, so when he jumped, out he went. it really was crazy though. like a mini-shamu jumping out of the water, flipping his body around.
i fed him 1 pellet to help him feed normal again and kissed him, checking on his fins. they were being used again, but one side more than the other. normal. Pinky did the same. he just needed time, so i went to work.
hopefully when i get home this afternoon he's still doing okay. better, even.
seriously hope he learns his lesson with the jumping.
