Tuesday night was a pretty cool night. I was created “Prince of the Dorks” as Trish put it. I debuted my new shirt (which I made myself) and its bold legend “Res Ipsa Loquitur”, a latin/legal phrase meaning “The Thing Speaks for Itself.” Being a flashy loudmouth, I though it was perfect for me. My fellows students agreed.
I went though the Legal Research midterm like a hot knife through butter. Hooray for me. But really, it sucks. The class isn’t teaching me what I need to know. It’s just a re-hash of Legal 101. That pisses me off to no end.
Open mic at the Brass Monkey was nice. My set was a train-wreck. I need more practice playing standing up. I need more practice period. At least it is a supportive crowd.
I broke out my shoe-box recorder (this is how Trish nominated me for Prince of the Dorks) to catch Chicago Megan’s last set. I haven’t listed to the tape yet, I hope it came out all right.
Cacie played an amazing set. Probably the best set she’s ever played. She had amazing stage presence, stong vocals and guitar, very engaging in banter. She was also showing off a 1991 riot grrrl attitude that I never seen from her before. It is great that, after the four years we’ve been friends, she can still surprise me. I wish I had got her set on tape. Cacie: bottle that shit, and take a swig before you go on next week!
But what made the night best of all was just hanging out. I got to talking to some great people who I haven’t had great conversations with in the past, or just plain haven’t talked to before.
