Ok, just to please Megan I'll update. And because it's been almost a month since I have. I haven't updated because not much has been going on, just going to school and counting down the days until Thanksgiving (50 days left!)
Last Wednesday (a week and a half ago now), my computer died, as many of you have heard me complain about non-stop since it happened. I just went to turn it on one day and all it did was flash the power and battery lights at me. So I took it into the computer center on campus because they are a Dell service center and my computer is only a month and a half old so it's under warranty. They said that it would take at least one-two days for them to look at it and then they would call me to tell me what was wrong with it and on top of that they charge $20 for a "diagnostic test" and then $45 for each hour of labor. So I was super pissed that not only it was broken but I was going to be charged an arm and a leg for them to fix it when it is still brand new! During this time I'm going through withdraw and I'm complaining to everyone because I live on my computer, I mean it's the only wa I can really talk to Teddy so I'm always signed on just in case he gets a free minute. On top of all of this I was sick and just feeling gross this whole time.
So I go back on Friday to check up on it because I never got a call from them and they had just starting looking at it and didn't know what was wrong yet. So I go back to my room very pissed off because I don't have a computer for the entire weekend, I was even thinking of going home. But when I get back there was the most wonderful note left for me there. My roommate, Nicole, had gone home for the weekend and told me I could use hers for the weekend. So not only did I get the room to myself I got a computer along with it so I decided to stay. Well it was a nice quiet weekend for me, even though Nicole's computer is very old and does not work very well. So if anyone got annoyed talking to me because I didn't respond very fast, I'm sorry but her computer likes to freeze for a second before any IM shows up on the screen. I guess beggars can't be choosers so I put up with it.
Well anyways as my computer saga continues, I went back to the computer center Monday afternoon after my chemistry class to check up on them becuase I still had not gotten a call about what they were going to do with my computer. When I go there the guy treats me like a girl who knows absolutely nothing about computers and simply tells me its dead and he'll have to order new parts and it won't be done until the end of this week or the beginning of next. When I ask more specifically what is wrong with the computer he can't come up with an answer, so I leave and call my dad to express how pissed off I am and how I don't trust this place. Well he calls Dell to complain and the guy he talked to informed him that the computer center on the UCF campus does not have a good reputation and on top of that my warranty is not valid at this place, I have to send the computer into them for it to be effective. The people at the computer store neglected to tell me that and everything I read made it sound like I could take it there and it was a special thing for college students. So basically the Dell guy told my dad that they have done this before and they probably going to fix the computer and the "realize" my warranty doesn't cover them fixing it and then charge me anywhere from $400-$500.
So of course Tuesday morning bright and early I went back to the computer center get my computer back before they messed with it at all. I was all ready to put up a fight because I was sure they were going to try and charge me for doing nothing. I was already rationalizing why they couldn't charge me on my walk over there, they couldn't charge me for the diagnostic test because they couldn't get the computer to to turn on either to run the dumb test and the couldn't charge me for an hour of labor because all the guy did was look at it and push the little button like I did and conclude that it was dead. So I walk in all ready for a fight and I ask for my computer back because we are just going to send it into Dell to be fixed for FREE. Suprisingly he just put everything back together and gave it to me. I was almost disappointed because I had myself all worked up and ready to yell at someone. So I go back to my room and call the Dell support center and talk to one of their guys and try all this stuff to make my computer work and when nothing worked he also concluded that it needed to be sent into them. He then arranges for a box to be sent to me so that I can pack it up and send my computer off to them.
So wednesday comes and I check my mail to find that a package has come for me, it's my box. It was the only time that joke was really true. (What'd ya get in the mail? What does it look like, I got a box! hahaha) Not only did I get one box I got two for some reason. I only needed one but maybe just incase they sent two. So I carry them back to my room and pack up my computer on one of the boxes and call Airborne Express to arrange pick up. Of course in my life nothing can be easy and Airborne Express does not pick up at dorms so I have to arrange for them to come pick it up at 1:30 the next day at the community mail center.
So then yesterday, Thursday, is my early day so I couldn't drop off my computer before class because the mail office doesn't open until 8:30 which doesn't leave me enough time to get to my chemistry lab by 9:00, or at least enough time that I feel comfortable with. See I can't be late to lab because if I am I don't get credit for being there that day. So after lab I have economics right afterwards until 1:20. Luckily we get out of class early and I practically run back to my dorm, get my computer and run over to the mail office just before 1:30. I drop it off in the mail room telling the lady there that there will be an Airborne Express guy coming soon to pick it up. Then I leave and rush over to HERO training. (HERO is a volunteer program where we go as a group to an elementary school and provide something for them to do after school.) Later that day I went back to the mail room to make sure my computer was picked up. Thankfully something finally went right and it is now on its way to Dell to be fixed!!! Hopefully sometime next week it'll be sent back home so I can get it next weekend. Of course getting it back can't be east either because Dell won't send it back to me because all I have is a P.O. Box because no one will there to sign for it, so it has to be sent back home and I'll have to drive home again next weekend to get it back finally.
Other than that nothing much has been going on here. Last night I went over to Megan's to watch the Thursday night line-up on NBC because I'm not taking any chances that I'll miss ER. The night the season finale was on (that I had missed because of IB exams) I rushed home to see it and instead of being nice Nicole decided it was a good time to blow dry her hair, even after I asked her to wait until a commercial because I like ER so much. It was almost as if she was doing it on purpose because the first time she did stop until the commercial but with about 15 minutes left she decided that those 15 minutes were the only 15 minutes that she could finish drying her hair. I mean when the black screen came up signifying the end of ER the hair-dryer turned off. So that has basically been the beginning of the end of me trying to be nice to her. Now I just spend as little time in my room as possible, its basically a place to sleep nothing else. Well sorry this is so long but it has been a month since I've updated, and now Megan should get off my back about updating :) I love ya Megan!!!
I hope everyone else is having better luck than I am in college! If anyone ever gets bored where they are, come down to Orlando and vist, you can help me bug Nicole to get her back for all the stuff she does to wake me up when I'm trying to sleep in the morning! Megan and I have already been brainstorming ideas. I had no idea Megan could be so devious!
