In Retrospect, The Idea Of So Many Posts Is Silly

According to the school age kids at work (namely the eight through eleven year olds), Smallcreep looks like someone from Pokemon. No clue who, just "someone from Pokemon." The Squonk looks like a "demented bunny. Are you sure you're drawing that right? It looks weird." and Russel is Ozzy Osbourne.

However, I do have a couple of the kids wanting to read BtTatT - one because the world sounds cool, the other simply so she can tell me "How many pets to give Al." (she doesn't like the name Smallcreep, she thinks it's mean that people call him a creep, so I told her what his mum calls him which she thinks is much nicer) "in book two," she clarifies, when I explain that his story begins in a setting with no animals. (Two lab mixes and a horse. The labs are Lucy and Max, the horse is, of all things, Dragonfly. The first lab's name made me laugh, because in the faaar earliest drafts, Chach had a German Shepherd named Lucy. Thank goodness that's gone by the wayside. It doesn't work with the setting.)

Anyway. Maybe that can be motivation for trying to get it finished and published - the whole feel (not counting the drabbles and short things I write to get a feel for the characters' mindsets) of the novel itself is very YA. Maybe I can finish it by the time they're the right age for it.
