Alright, let's roll the clock back to Thursday.
I finished up my shift in F320. I did manage to get the papers done but it took some serious TSO and some fast typing. Went onto edumuhkation class then home to crash out.
Friday- was, well- a Friday. Went to Geo class, then I goofed off in the lab for a while- well, not goofed off precisely. I've begun a project in Excel to put all of my finances into one document. The adventure begins...
After that a thrilling Biology class and then I was done- with classes anyway. Appointment with Karen White that went well, followed by a three hour shift in F320. Nice and peaceful, just the way I like 'em. And I was free!
Welp, I got in the ole Blazer and headed to Wally. Picked up a few critical supplies and headed over to Whittier for some Role Playing with
marqphex,
ranger742,
ninjacutiepie, and Greg. I'd spent far too much of Spring Break working on my character so I was more than ready.
Mind you they have a lot of cats. Like 5 at the moment due to kitty sitting. Luckily, I didn't totally die from my allergies. Eventually the rest of the hoard joined
marqphex and I and we got to play- once Karen and Greg got their characters rolled up by Mark, that is.
We managed to slay some rather large wasps, a really huge centipede, and some umber hulks. I got a necklace of fireballs out of it so no complaints here:) Melissa assisted Marq in his DM duties and is being groomed to run one of his games in the near future.
Headed home that evening and crashed out.
Got up Saturday and did my time in Hunter Lab. Spent a lot more time on what I ended up calling my Uber BooksTM. Amazing how much financial data you can glean from online sources...
Afterward I headed over to George's house and took him to Wally World. We did hit Smokey Mountain Video first, though, and he grabbed a flick. Swung through Wally and picked up a few things myself. We went back to his apartment and enjoyed the, um, screen gem The Hidden. Yeah, that's the ticket. Quite amusing- mostly because it tried so hard to take itself seriously waaaay back in the 80's- an impossible task.
Sunday morning came down as it does from time to time. Spent the day doing laundry and reading Psychology and working on the Uber BooksTM. Decided to crash out early and get up early on Monday.
And so I did- got up at 3:30, in the lab productive by 4:30. Worked frantically to finish up my Bio Lab Report as well as my Psych Proposal. Went to Geo Class and then to F320 to work and keep working on those reports. Bio class, then back for the final touches on both. Printed them up with practically minutes to spare and went to Biology Lab.
We got to count corn kernels. And that was the exciting part. Still, our usual group of five had shrunk to 3 and everyone wanted to get done quick. We divided and conquered, getting through the lab in record time.
From there I headed onto Killian. Did a little more Psych reading and went to class. Got my last paper back- another 15/15. Very cool! And class was fairly engaging even if I was fighting sleep at times. Very interesting video about language.
Well, I headed home and got my ducks in a row. Bad weather might have been on the horizon so I decided to head home to Asheville. Got there, finally had a few spare moments to review for my teaching the next day, and crashed out.
Up nice and early on Tuesday. Got dressed and gussified, last minute review of the material, and I headed to Asheville Middle School. I had the opportunity to cram a little during homeroom and I also got to ask the teacher a few questions about regular activities I needed to engage the kids in. Also discovered that the kids were going to a assembly on Brown v. Board of Education.
Actually, it was a very well done program that seemed to keep their attention- and mine as well. A one man show put on by a very talented actor with some audience assistance. What made things interesting was that they had to leave to the program right in the middle of my lesson. So...
It actually went fairly well. The students were nice enough to tell me whenever I made mistakes or forgot things. Such nice kids... I didn't mess up too many times, though...
I really enjoyed it. Believe it or not, it was never an issue of being nervous. 99% of the stress came from needing to take some time to look over the material and trying to cover all my bases with the overhead and homework & mental math activities and the like.
I'm sure I could have done a better job with the discipline but the teacher jumped in fairly often and I did get to redirect a few students here and there. I really enjoyed it- used my big mouth to good effect. They might not have known all the answers but none of them could claim they didn't hear me. I worked through all of the activities in the chapter and the problems, and made up variations of my own. I wanted to make sure they knew how to tackle the problems over memorizing how to handle a few contingencies. As the teacher told as I was leaving, I had an extra long teaching time- the program fell strangely in the schedule and I ended up teaching for about 70 minutes give or take.
After I left the school I headed back home. Debra was there and mom made lunch. I chilled for a bit- they were heading out to see Genevieve about some of Khaki's things she wanted mom to have. I headed on back to Cullowhee soon after.
I headed over to F320- I'd obtained a wealth of financial statements while I was home so I added a fair shake to my Uber BooksTM. Got to Presby a little late and left a little early but I did manage to take some pics at long last. Back to F320 for more work on my books, then I headed home and crashed out.
Got up Wednesday morning. Eventually. Quite a comedy of errors, that.
I meant to set my alarm clock for 4AM. Except- I set it 12 hours off. And I did set my cell phone as plan B- except I set it two hours later than I meant to at 6:15 AM. And so it went...
I did manage to get to Hunter a little before 7 and spent a amazingly frantic hour studying for my Geo Exam. Headed over and got the test.
It was a humbling experience. It was an hour long class. I was the first to finish after 50 minutes. It was rough- I'll be ecstatic to swing a C on this one.
Back to the lab. Worked on the books and the usual online suspects. Then to Bio class followed hard upon by my Geology Lab.
It was OK- except we had to walk to the far corners of campus to make our observations on the creek. It took a solid two hours and when I finally got back to Lwood I was ready for a nap. All I managed to scrounge was a power nap due to people calling me. Oh, well...
I did manage to get my housing contract squared away for next semester. I'd made my housing deposit last week so only the contract stood between my and Lwood in the Fall.
Finally got together with Mark Philips. He's been having some difficulties lately so I was glad to help him out with a ride. We drove to Wally first to grab a few things, he kindly filled up my gas tank, and then to his friends house to grab his stuff. Then back to Cullowhee.
I grabbed a bite at Cyber and spent some time online. I decided that getting caught up on rest was more important than burning the midnight oil so I crashed around 10. Mr. Philips need a place to crash and came in at some later time to crash.
Which brings us to today. Got up, got dressed and the like, and arrived at the lab nice and early. I've really been enjoying the extra icons on LJ and spending waaaay too much time looking for them. I've also been plugging away the the Uber BooksTM.
During lunch I finally got back to Student Support Services to fill out my note taking contract. Every little bit helps... Back to the lab where I've been plugging away on this entry. And that's about it. Not the most exciting week ever, but its mine. Catch you later.
