Research and Such

Well, I know that I have to get Faith to Lorne's, since she agree to do it, but I'm giving her a little while before I press the issue. Instead I'm going to help out Wes and company with some research, see how they're all doing. I wanted to talk to Wes anyway. I know he and Angel are doing better, so that's good. I'd like to catch up and see how he

Fred had a point. The whiteboard was an excellent resource for plotting out the steps needed to attempt to convert the gypsy ritual for our use.

I just hope that it's not close enough to wall-writing for her to backslide into old, bad habits...

I head into the office, knocking on the door first to announce myself. "Hey Wes. Need any help with anything?"

[windham_pryce]

"How's your Romanian?" I reply, not looking up. "I'm finding mine not to be as pitch-perfect as I recall. Too much time spent studying centuries-old demonic dialects, and not enough studying the linguistic nuances of languages actually invented by human beings."

[ozwolf]

I hint a smile. "Sadly, my Romanian is rusty. Or, non-existant. Sorry." I come in and sit down. "What are you working on that you need Romanian help with?"

[windham_pryce]

"I believe I've found what may well be the key to sending Melaka home. Her era shouldn't be without it's Slayer...I find the thought rather frightening, to be honest."

[ozwolf]

I nod. "It's probably not good for them. Though I'll miss her. I like the girl." I say. "Is it really complicated?"

[windham_pryce]

"Frustrating would be a better term."

A bitter sigh of frustration comes from me, and I flop into the chair behind the desk, taking my glasses off to rub the bridge of my nose.

"What I've found...it's not exactly a time travel ritual. It's more of a protective field, that warps time, placing what's within outside of the normal flow. It'll take adaptation to use for the purpose we'd be trying it."

[ozwolf]

I eye Wes sympathetically. "Maybe it's time for a break." I say. "Give your head a rest for a few."

[windham_pryce]

"Was there something on your mind, Oz?"

[ozwolf]

I shrug. "Just wanting to help out." I say. "...though your input on Faith would be appreciated. This whole Kennedy thing is kind of...riled her."

[windham_pryce]

"How do you mean that, exactly?" I sit back, steepling my fingers, head cocked to one side, interested.

[ozwolf]

"I mean it's got her all up in arms. I just got her to a more stable place, I'd rather not see her topple right back over into unstable land." I say with a sigh. "Wasn't easy to get her where she is now."

[windham_pryce]

"If that's not the truth, I don't know what is," Wes agreed. He smiled, more to put himself at ease than Oz, and rose, nudging the office door closed. "Fred still gets a little nervous when we talk about Faith too long. Even though I've assured her it isn't necessary."

[ozwolf]

I cock my head to the side just a touch. "What do you mean?" I ask. Why would Fred get nervous? I'm missing something.

[windham_pryce]

He doesn't know. Oh, Lord. This is not something he should learn from me. It won't possibly help...

"I assume Faith never told you that she and I were...involved?"

[ozwolf]

Involved.

"..."

Takes me a minute to answer. "Involved." I repeat. I don't need clarification, though I have the urge to ask for it.

"I see..." I start, a light frown on my face.
