Well, the weekend was MUCH better than the week. Like, a million times better. I had a BLAST. I've never had so much fun with my family (as in my extended family).
So it was my Aunts 60'th birthday bash. Her 3 daughters (Julie, 38, single; Alyssa, middle kid, married to Marty; Ellen, youngest, Married to Chuck, has 2 kids: Vincent (1.5 years) and Collette (6 years)) put the party on for her, and planned it all and everything. And it was a blast. We got there a day early, so me and my folks took a trip to: Washington University in St.Louis.
Now, we all know that I've been destined to go to Loyola Chicago for like 6 months now, and I thought it was all said and done. But...well...Wash U was amazing. Not like 'pretty good'. It was amazing. Like, wow. Everything about it was great, and...just...wow. I loved it. I'll give a more in-depth report on it later. But our tour guide looked like Liz Cadwell, only with less hair and a birthmark under her right ear.
Then, the day of the party, the daughters were stressing out, so our family took off for the zoo with Collette. And me and Collette became bestest friends. We spent 3 damned hours looking for the hidden giraffes, and when we got there, we sang 'Since U Been Gone' and then got lost and then went off to the elephants, and we became as close as Great-Cousins can be (she's my cousins kid...am I her Great Cousin?)
Then it was the night of the party. Dad got piss drunk and started talking about his Vasectomy, all the other adults got piss drunk and tried to sing folk tunes on the porch (it was hilarious watching them try to remember the words), Auntie Bev cried when her best friend wrote her a poem, and neither her, the best friend, OR any of the daughters could read the poem without crying, so they had me read it for them. And in the middle of the poem about best friends, Maddie called. It was kinda (ok REALLY) cute. Then Cousin Ellen made me promise not to get drunk, and made me a BUNCH of alcoholic drinks (as in 3), but I didn't get drunk, thank God, that would have been embarassing. I had the college talk with about 17 different people, got caught up on Auntie Bex's neighborhood gossip, and learned how to make a Dr. Pepper and S[iced Rum. (Just like it sounds). Me and Uncle Marty (I call him Uncle, even though he's my cousin-in-law), because Marty just sounds like an Uncle name) bonded over Billy Joel, and he's gonna burn and send to me all of his Billy Joel stuff. How exciting is that? Uncle David, who I haven't seen in years (I actually had no idea what he looked like until this party), and who lives in NY, decided I was gonna come visit him in NY, and we were gonna go see Fiddler on the Roof together, before they do it at the JCC. OMG YAY! Me and Dad's cousin Trip and his wife talked about Avenue Q, and how it would NOT be good for their 5-year-old kid Christian (who is the cutest 5-year-old kid EVER!), and I got addicted to cashews. Cousins Julie and Ellen, who live in Houston, are gonna come watch me at the St. Marks speech tournament in October. YAY! All in all, it was the best night I've had in a long time. I love my dad's side of the family, they are SO not trashy like my moms.
Auntie Bev handed out commerative CD's that cousin Alyssa made for the party, and they had all this grat music on them, like Carly Simon's "You're so Vain", which is very much so my new all time favorite song.
The drive back was long and boring, but whatever. When I got home, our computer still hadn't started up (fuuuuuuuck), so I'm on the laptop, and still don't have my music, but whatever, at least I have my bed. And my life.
School starts on Tuesday. Wow. Summer went by fast.
Tomorrow will be a Recap of the bestest summer ever.
