Been in the UK since Feb 3rd... over the half way mark of my stay now unfortunately :(
The flights over sucked complete ass. The first 8hr flight wasn't bad ... but the other two killed me. I got to Manchester at 11am .. I'd been awake for 37hrs and had to stay awake til night time. It was fine once I'd landed tho... how I dread the flights back *cries*.
Done stacks of things while here... the first week was busiest... it almost feels like I've been here for ages now and iot's normal. A shopping highlight was Afflecks Palace .. god I could die happy there, it's so bloody awesome. I spent £250 on the day we went there... which is bout $650 - eek. Hopefully going back before I leave. Been out to a few pubs/clubs etc.. best so far would be Cacis .. a rock/punk venue... playing awesome music... sorta like The Depot... cept they have a good drink called Cheeky Vimto .. and they sell drugs over the bar. That was a spinout.
This weekend we're (Bek, Carly & I) going to London to stay for four days. We'll be doing all the toutisty stuff... The London Tower, London Eye, Camden Markets and so on.
Mmm.. an odd experience while in the UK would be trying the LEGAL herb.. Salvia Dividorum .. good god. It's so amazingly dangerous... it's like $65 for a little tube. the first time i tried it, i ran to a room which then warped into a really long pathway with golden lights... it felt like Alice In Wonderland. The second time was even scarier... I can't explain properly on here, but I freaked out, and apparently looked really angry/scared and tried to run out the house. Tis basically a huge hallucigenic tripout for 10-15mins.
Been looking into getting a good digital camera while here... think I might get a Nikon D70 .. tomorrow maybe, in time for London.
A few odd/different things about the UK compared to Australia:
- lights go orange before going green
- you need a TV licence
- no bugs except worms (big fat n ugly ones)
- the regular greeting is 'ya alright?'
- most cab cars are people's personal cars
- pubs are like australian clubs (much nicer environment here)
- when buying smokes from a machine, they take out atleast 5 smokes
- showers are like dribbling water
- when buying a drink, u automatically get a double unless u say otherwise
- kfc serve bbq baked beans and DONT do potato n gravy
- maccas is gross
- everyone looks like they just stepped out of a hair salon
the end :)
