Inge Spencer
First Appearance:
Tin Man: Pirates of the Nonestic Chapter Eleven Inge Spencer's life turned upside down in just a few hours in the middle of the night. He had snuck out to the jungle after a fight with his father and was headed back into Kitticut when the first cannonballs fell on Pingaree from the warship he saw in the harbor. He climbed down a well and was missed by the invaders, who slaughtered the citizens that survived the bombing.
The crew of the You and What Navy? pulled Spencer out of the well the next morning. Their captain was incensed the ship that done this had gotten away, but survivors who needed their cargo were more important. Except for Spencer and a few families on the edge of the city, there were no survivors. Captain Bobbins grew even angrier; her buyer had been the target of a vicious killing. Still, what she was calling a 'set-up to make us look like the rampaging pirates' paled when Spencer found his entire family dead. The pirates helped the boy bury the dead. They weren't heartless after all.
Captain Bobbins offered Spencer an incognito position in her crew. He could help them find the ship responsible for the attack on Pingaree and get
vengeance on the ones who killed his family. Spencer couldn't face his people with the
specter of his father's disapproval over him, so he accepted. He packed some clothes, his fiddle, his woodworking tools, and his father's pearls, and became the You and What Navy?'s master carpenter.
Inga of Pingaree was created by L. Frank Baum. His Tin Man version is portrayed by Julito McCullum.
