i. You're like a mind reader, because I swear, I had a vaguely similar plotbunny when I was trying to think of a role reversal for Richard, and Juliet was the only one I wanted to switch him with, so that she'd be the ageless Immortal to Jacob of many, many years while he'd be in her situation, no immortality issues and wanting desperately get off the Island after being recruited. And you just really sparked the idea further.

I love this picture of Juliet-in-Richard's-place that you've painted. It's built up nicely--like, I'm thinking that it's modern day Juliet that makes the deal with Jacob, and then you gut punch with the 'century' line and I'm just like, 'OH.' And it just makes me try to consider interesting period backstories for this Juliet and Rachel now, and makes me wonder even more how Juliet would deal with Richard's canon situation, watching all the change happen in all that time.

Or am I misunderstanding? Is it in fact modern day Juliet that makes the deal and then it's like a century into the 'future?' Your writing makes it ambiguous enough for any interpretation.

I love Juliet's interactions with Esau and Jacob, they ring very true. I can so see her conflicted relationship with Esau, and Juliet's frustration with Jacob and believing his mission pointless, totally buy it all leading up to her crossing her own name off. And I like how Juliet's tested loyalty stems from a sort of desperation--like, as said, her promise and Jacob is all that's left reminds me of my own view on Richard's loyalties

ii. I'm so pleased to see this AU from you. I saw it once in another short fic, and I thought about it, and I rather like how your fic implies if Juliet had lived, she would've gone with her remaining Dharma buddy Miles, and her former 'allies' Richard and Ben in that split-off in "Everybody Loves Hugo." And the return of mechanic Juliet in helping fix the plane! <3 The empty seat. ;_; I could really see this happening in canon--like, I could really see James sacrificing himself to save Juliet...and I think part of me would've preferred it, 'cause it still seems like both would've suffered somewhat less. Juliet would finally see her sister and nephew, and James wouldn't have to live without her...I dunno, I think despite all the tragedy in either situation, canon gives us the more bleak picture, while this scenario seems more bearable.

iii. Is 'Emily' a reference to Ben's own mother? It'd be cool if it was. Such a surprising, intriguing AU. Just...wow.

iv. Jack/Juliet! <3 I still have such a soft spot for them. And I love how it has the promise of David.~

v. I love you have Juliet talk down a desperate Daniel. I always liked their little relationship, how she seems to look out for him.

“Sure Boss, anything that doesn’t end in us exploding sounds awesome to me.”

Way to make me LOL with everything so grim Miles. ;)

I love how they just pop back in the Statue, I found that kinda supernatural randomness very "Lost."

vi. <3 this AU. Of course Juliet immediately helps a pregnant Claire! :D Sawyer and Juliet sat next to each other! XD (Wonder how fast she can get to calling him 'James' this time around without the files?) And that last line! I love how it like parallels how we learn Jack's name in the pilot, and Juliet really doesn't answer in her place.

Wow, thank you so much! :D

I was having this internal debate with myself over whether or not the first one should be a contemporary Juliet or one from a Richard-esque era and I honestly couldn't commit, so I left it vague.

I love the idea of a complete role reversal with Richard and Juliet though. That would be awesome. Richard/Juliet is one of my favorite rare ships.

Absolutely. I know it sounds terrible, but I would have been okay with losing Sawyer, especially if we lost him because he was saving her. But losing Juliet was too much. I needed for her to go home, I can't say the same for James.

Vague works, 'cause you can imagine all sorts of things.~

The role reversal with Richard and Juliet is intriguing me more and more, though I'm having trouble pinpointing the details when I try to rearrange backstories.

Richard/Juliet is one of my favorite rare ships in Lost too. :D It just makes sense to me in retrospect, and I just really wished they had touched upon the fact that it's Richard who recruits Juliet a little more after the fact, since they seemed to barely interact after her flashback, except in small implying scenes (i.e. Richard films Rachel and Julian for Juliet, Juliet asks for him in the 50s and seems to know his old, ageless deal). I'm just curious if Juliet ever held a grudge against Richard for that (I kinda think it's more complicated than that). Actually, if the show really wanted Juliet to have a past relationship with one of the Others, I really wish that instead of Goodwin, it had been Richard.

Excuse my mini Richard/Juliet rant. ^^;

This sounds bad too, but Juliet just seemed to have more to return to, and James seemed to lose more with her death, than vice versa.
