Juggling Book Projects Can Give You a Headache

After hitting 28,000 words on the first draft of my new novel, We Love Trouble, I'm calling a halt to it.

Temporarily! Come on, I'm not going to give up on a story that I've described as The Thin Man meets Scooby-Doo. I'm having way too much fun.

But Emily and I wanted to get our new humor book, Still Slightly Off the Mark, out before the Christmas

If all goes well, the first draft should be done by the end of the year, and the final draft in late winter or early spring.

I've already been delayed by cleaning the house before the cable guy gets here Tuesday! Not that the housecleaning shouldn't be done anyway ...

I could always use some eyes-on before I send a book out. If you're interested, remind me when I get the final draft done and you can take a look at it.

Ugh I got texted at 7 AM today to tell me they'll be removing my fridge. Haven't told me when.

So I'm going to be delayed by emptying out my kitchen

It's always something, isn't it? Emily just found a house for sale we're interested in--that'll take up one of my days off, even if we decide not to go for it.

We made an offer on it today, so it had better be! The house itself is kind of old and needs a lot of cosmetic work, but the place includes three outbuildings, fencing for horses, and 7.5 acres of property--at a very good price. Wish us luck getting through the paperwork!
